Other code that applies is ICC /ANSI Al 17.1-03 Usable and Accessible Buildings and Facilities. Type of construction shall comply with table 503 IBC and the basement shall comply with IBC definition as to not be considered a story above grade. Accessible parking and route shall have the elevations set on the comers of the parking and unloading area to show less than a 1 inch in 48 inch slope. The plans appear satisfactory and are approved. Please advise the developer accordingly. We offer the following comments: • Our review and approval of the plans are general in nature. Should conditions in the field exist such that additional measures are warranted, such measures shall be completed to the satisfaction of VDOT. Materials used and methods of construction shall adhere to the current observed VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications, Road and Bridge Standards, and Land Use Permit Special Provisions. • Inspection and testing of all backfill and pavement sections shall be performed in accordance with all applicable sections of VDOT's current Road and Bridge Specifications. • A preconstruction conference will need to be held by the engineer and /or developer with the attendance of the contractor, utility companies, county agencies, and VDOT prior to initiation of work. • Any construction related changes to the approved plan must come through the design engineer to VDOT for approval. Please allow a minimum of 5 business days for VDOT review of these changes. • The contractor shall notify VDOT when work is to begin or cease for any undetermined length of time. VDOT will also require 48 hours notice for inspections. • The appropriate land use permit may now be applied for to cover the entrance work within the Route 11 right -of- way.
