The facility is substantially shielded from any neighboring properties, both sight -wise and noise -wise, and has been used for commercial purposes in the past. The CUP -allowed use of "kennel" includes handling and caring for dogs, so the primary aspect of this business, dog -grooming, is allowed. The existing driveway provides adequate parking for approximately 5 vehicles. Since business would be by appointment only, a large sign at the entrance off of Route 522 should not be necessary. Since overnight boarding of dogs is not proposed and since the site is well buffered from adjoining properties, noise is not expected to be a problem. However, staff recommends having the applicant address the issue of noise associated with the proposed business at this public hearing.
