CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
1. The existing utilities shown on these plans are based on available information.
The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for determining the exact location of all
utilities before commencing work and for any damages which occur by the failure
to locate and preserve these utilities. If the CONTRACTOR should encounter utilities
other than those shown on these plans, the CONTRACTOR shall immediately notify
the engineer and take the necessary and proper steps to protect the facility and
assure the continuance of service.
2. The CONTRACTOR slhall have approved construction drawings prior to the start
of construction. At least one copy of approved plans and revisions shall be kept
on -site at all times.
3. Cut and fill slopes shall be as shown on the drawings but shall not exceed 2 horiz.
to 1 vertical.
4. Controlled Fills:
A. Controlled compaction shall occur in all fill sections for pavement, trenches,
for utilities, and in other areas as designated on the plans.
B. Controlled fills shall be compacetd to 98/ density as determined by methods
per standard proctor ASTM D 698. Density shall be verified by a qualified
soils engineer.
C. Controlled fills shall be compacted in 8 inch lifts (loos thickness) to the
specified density, beginning from the existing ground surface, unless otherwise
in writing by a qualified soils engineer.
D. The surface directly beneath areas to receive controlled fill are to be
cleared, grubbed, and stripped of topsoil. The area is then to be scarified
and compacted to a depth of 6 inches to the some density as the controlled
fill to be placed thereon.
E. Fill material shall be taken from approved borrow areas. It shall be clean
soil, free of roots, woody vegetation, oversized stones, rocks, sandy soils, or
other objectionable material.
5. Blasting is not permitted within 25 feet of existing utilities without owner permission.
6. All sanitary sewer and water supply construction shall conform to the current
standards of the Frederick County Sanitation Authority, and the Virginia Department
of Health.
7. Pavement materials called for on the plans refer to standard VDOT designations.
8. All radii indicate edge of gravel, edge of pavement or face of curb as applicable.
9. Where plans call for matching existing pavement in the public right of way, the
CONTRACTOR shall provide cut joint or asphalt overlay as directed by VDOT.
10. All disturbed R.O.W. monuments are to be replaced and verified by a certified
land surveyor at the CONTRACTOR's expense.
11. All construction and materials proposed for the public right of way shall conform
to VDOT standards and specifications.
12. Fire lanes shall be delineated as directed by the Frederick County Fire Marshal.
13. The CONTRACTOR shall obtain permission from adjoining property owners prior
to conducting offsite construction activities.
14. The CONTRACTOR shall coordinate the reloacation of existing utilities with the
appropriate utility company an necessary.
15. Benchmark: Benchmark established at the top of the VDOT highway marker shown
on sheet C-1, elevation 851.15 feet.

5. CONTROL PANEL SHALL BE EQUIPED WITH A SEVEN DAY
DIGITALY PROGRAMABLE TIMER CAPABLE OF STARTING PUMP
AT DESIGNATED TIME AND CONTROLING DURATION OF PUMP
CYCLE. PANEL SHALL HAVE A MANUAL OVERRIDE SWITCH.
AND PUMP RUN TIME INDICATOR
6. LEVEL SWITCHES SHALL BE SEALED. BULB TYPE WITH
MERCURY SWITCHES. THERE SHALL BE THREE SWITCHES. ONE
FOR TURNING ON PUMP. ONE FOR TURNING OFF PUMP AND
THE THIRD FOR THE HIGH WATER ALARM.
7. PIPE PENETRATIONS IN TANKS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH
WATER STOPS, AND SEALED WITH NON SHRINK GROUT AFTER
PIPE INSTALLATION. PUMP CHAMBER AND SEPTIC TANKS
SHALL BE TESTED FOR WATER TIGHTNESS BEFORE BACKFILLING.
8. PUMP SHALL BE SUBMERSIBLE TYPE SEWAGE PUMP CAPABLE OF
PASSING 1.5" SOLIDS. OPEN FACE CENTRIFUGAL WITH RECESSED
IMPELLER. MOTOR HOUSING SHALL BE CAST IRON WITH ENAMEL
PAINTED SURFACE, OIL FILLED MOTOR, SEALED BEARINGS
CLASS "A" INSULATION. MOTOR SHALL BE 230 VOLT. SINGLE
PHASE. PUMP SHALL BE BARNES MODEL SE421A WITH A 5.44 IN
DIAMETER IMPELLER AND A 0.40 HP MOTOR, OR APPROVED
EQUAL. PUMP SHALL BE SUPPLIED WITH A LIFTING CABLE THAT
SHALL BE SECURED TO THE PUMP AND THE MANWAY RISER.
9. ALL CONTROL BOXES SHALL BE NEMA 4X. SUITABLE FOR
OUTDOOR USE IN WET AREAS. WITH GREY ENAMEL FINISH. ALL
CONDUIT SHALL BE EMT WITH WATER PROOF CONNECTIONS AT
ALL JUCNTION BOXES.
10. PUMP CONTROL PANEL SHALL BE IN THE CHURCH AT A
LOCATION DESIGNATED BY THE OWNER. A MOTOR DISCONNECT
SHALL BE LOCATED AT THE PUMP TANK ON A STURDY PANEL.
11. SEPTIC AND PUMP TANKS SHALL BE EQUAL TO THOSE
MANUFACTURED BY CLEAR FLOW INC. PRE-ENGINEERED TANKS
WITH A 2500 GALLON CAPACITY AND DIMENSIONS AS SHOWN
ON THIS SHEET.
12, FORCE MAIN SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH A GATE VALVE,
