. to t I General Notes 1. The contractor shall furnish all materials, lzbor and equipment and perform all work including restoration for the completed installation of the utility systems and all other improvements shown or implied as necessary for the completed facility ready for use. Unless otherwise noted, specifications for all work to be in accordance with applicable Standards and Construction Specifications of The Virginia Department of Transportation, Virginia Department of Health, Frederick County Sanitation Authority and the contract documents. 2. The engineer has attempted to locate existing subsurface utilities; hcwever, such may exist that are not shown. The contractor shall exercise care in this work so as to avoid damage to any utilities. Any damage shall be the contractor's responsibility. The contractor shall notify all utility companies 72 hours prior to construction. Call "Miss Utility" 1-800- 257-7777. 3. The oontradoir shall be responsible for all construction stakeout. All dimensions, elevations and locations shall be verified in the field by each contractor prior to beginning the work. The Engineer will approve all cut sheets. 4. Any unusual) subsurface conditions encountered during the course of the work shall be immediately brought to the attention of the Engineer and/or the Owner. 5. All grading for improvements 'to be confined to the project area. Any work performed offsite is the Contractor's responsibility. 6. Contractor to obtain, at his expense, all permits required of this work and shall faithfully adhere to the permit conditions 7. Temporary and permanent erosion control structures and methods to be in accordance with the Virginia Erosion Control= Guidelines and local ordinances and to be utilized during the construction period. All erosion control structures flown or required d nstrucflon shall o 8 uciu es s as eq during oo a1 be corttinu usly maintained throughout the period in which areas,are denuded. Areas shown to be surfaced are to have stone base installed at the earliestpossibte date after establishing grade. No area's to remain denuded for more than 30 f.-mliandar days when construction is not in, progress- 9. All unpaved areas of the site which are disturbed by this construction shall be provided with 4' topsoil, fertilized, seeded, compacted and mulched. Seed bed to be watered and cared for as necessary, to provide a good fawn quality grass cover. Areas not graded shall be disced, leveled and seeded to achieve lawn conditions. 10. Water and sewer lines are to be constructed in accordance w,t.h these plans and specifications and shall additionally meet all requirements of the Frederick County Sanitation Authority. The contractor shall coordinate with this agency and arrange for inspection by the County as necessary. 11. Contractor to clean up and restore disturbed areas immediately upon completion of pipe -laying in the affected area. 12. Exact locations for sewer and water services to be directed by the Frederick County Sanitation Authority Inspector in the field. Contractor to provide assistance as the Inspector may require in this effort. 1.. Design features relating to construction or to regulation, control and safety of traffic may be subject to change as deemed necessary by V.D,O.T. 14. All fill, base qnd subsurfaces material shall be compacted to 95% of theoretical miaximum density as determined by AASHO T-99 method A. within plus or minus 2% of optimum moisture for the full width of any dedicated right-of-wayand utility trenches under pavement areas.. Compaction in other areas to be So%. 15. Vegetation Plan: All grass areas to be seeded with a mixture of Marion Kentucky Bluegrass at a rate of 2-3 Ibs. per 1,000 square feet and Annual Rye at a rate of 1 1b. per 1,000 square feet. Nawly seeded areas shall be mulched at a rate of 70 - 120 Ibs, per 1,000 square feet. Adequate watering and fertilization are required to aid the emergence of new grass. 16. Cutsheets shall be submitted to the Engineer for approval prior to construction. All cutsheets should show existing ground elevations at centerline of utility, structure or road, and offset hub elevation. 18. Temporary termination of sewer line shall be plugged with a watertight plug. The end of the laterals shall be marked with a treated,2x4 post extending from the plug to eighteen (18) inches above the ground. the top six (6) inches of the post shall be painted green. Sewer lateral elevations to be compatible with gravity service to proposed building as shown on the Architectural drawing. 19:. New connections to existing sanitary sewer manholes will be made by core drilling the manhole. 20. The Sanitation Authority maintenance department is responsible for the installation of water meters. Before a permanent meter is set, they require; 1) the frame and cover to be properly aligned with its meter box and yoke bar, 2) the frame and cover to be set to the final grade of the lot, 3) the distance between the tap of the cover and yoke bar be between 18 and" 21 inches, and 4) all components of the meter box assembly to be in proper working order. It is the developees/contractoes responsibility to have the meter box assembly *installed correctly. 21. Burning of land cleating debris requires a permit from the Fire Marshall`s":Office. Burning of construction debris on site is prohibited. 22. Access for emergency vehicles must be maintained at all times during construction. Temporary street signs must be Posted as construction begins. Developer must ensure that driveways to houses do not allow parked vehicles to impede access to fire hydrants.
