Since the original tower was constructed, the airport now has new navigation systems in place. Due to the tower's location, the height and close proximity increased the minimums for approaching aircraft by 40 feet. For safety reasons the tower should be lighted. 2. Although not required by the FAA, the structure should be marked and lighted in accordance with FAA Advisory Circular 70/7460-1J, Obstruction Marking and lighting, Chapters 4, 8 (M- Dual) & 13 for safety of approaching aircraft prior to any modifications to the existing tower. The Winchester Regional Airport Authority has no objections to this site plan provided the structure is lighted in accordance with the referenced FAA advisory and respectfully requests that this be considered as a condition for approval of this site plan.
