channel. No disturbance of the flood plain area will occur in conjunction with this project.
Sinkholes - No sinkholes have been identified within the construction area.
Steep Slopes - No steep slopes have been identified within the construction area.
Woodlands - No woodlands have been identified within the construction area.
EROSION AND SILTATION CONTROL NARRATIVE
1. No erosion control devices will be required in conjunction with this project. All adjacent areas are stable.
practices shall conform to the requirements of the Virginia Erosion and Sediment control Handbook. However,
the CONTRACTOR is responsible far maintaining the site such that debris and soil is not tracked onto the public
right-of-way and such that any constltic,ion activities are conducted to prevent the erosion of the existing stable
slopes.
CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1. The existing utilities shown on Ihese plans are based on available information. The CONTRACTOR shall be
responsible for determining the exact location of all utilities before commencing work and for any damages which
occur by the failure to locate and preserve these utilities. If the CONTRACTOR should encounter utilities other
than those shown on these plans, the CONTRACTOR shall immediately notify the engineer and take the
necessary and proper steps to protect the facility and assul a the continuance of service.
2. The CONTRACTOR shall have approved constnrction drawings prior to the start of construction. At least one
copy of approved plans and revisions shall be kept on -site A all times.
3. Cut and fill slopes shall not ex(:e(-d 2-horizontal to 1-verlic<II unless otherwise called for on the plans.
4. Controlled Fills:
A. Controlled compaction snail occur in all fill sections for pavement, trenches for utilities and in other areas
as designated " on the plans.
B. Controlled fills shall be compacted to 95% density as determined by methods per standard proctor ASTM D
698. Density shall be vei,hed by a qualified soils eng, )eer.
C. Controlled fills shall be ( or.)pacted in 8 inch lifts (to( se thickness) to the specified density, beginning from
the existing ground surface, unless otherwise approved in writing by a qualified soils engineer.
D The surfaces directly beneath areas to receive controlled fill are to be cleared, grubbed, and stripped of
topsoil. The area is then to be scarified and compa(ted to a depth of 6 inches to the same density as the
controlled fill to be placed thereon.
E. Fill material sh,)II be taken from approved borrow areas. It shall be clean soil, free of roots, woody
vegetation, over iced stones, rocks, sandy soil, or other objectionable material.
5. Blasting is not permitted within 25 feet of existing utilities without owner permission.

7. Fire lanes shall be delineated as directed by the Frederick County Fire Marshal.

EROSION AND SILTATION CONTROL NARRATIVE
1. No erosion control devices will be re,luired in conjunction with this project. All adjacent areas are stable.
practices shall conform to the requirements of the Virginia Erosion and Sediment control Handbook. However,
the CONTRACTOR is responsible for maintaining the site such that debris and soil is not tracked onto the public
right-of-way and such that any constluc;ion activities are conducted to prevent the erosion of the existing stable
slopes.
CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1. The existing utilities shown on These plans are based on available information. The CONTRACTOR shall be
responsible for determining the exact location of all utilities before commencing work and for any damages which
occur by the failure to locate and preserve these utilities If the CONTRACTOR should encounter utilities other
than those shown on these plans, the CONTRACTOR shall immediately notify the engineer and take the
necessary and proper steps to protect the facility and assure the continuance of service
2. The CONTRACTOR shall have approved construction (it rwings prior to the start of construction. At least one
copy of approved plans and revisions shall be kept on -site at all times.
3. Cut and fill slopes shall not exceed 2-horizontal to 1-vertical unless otherwise called for on the plans.
4. Controlled Fills:
A Controlled compaction shall occur in all fill sections for pavement, trenches for utilities and in other areas
as designated on the plans.
B. Controlled fills shall be compacted to 95% density as determined by methods per standard proctor ASTM D
698, Density shall be verified by a qualified soils engr reer.
C. Controlled fills shall be c.ovipacted in 8 inch lifts (loose thickness) to the specified density, beginning from
the existing ground surface, unless otherwise approved in writing by a qualified soils engineer.
D. The surfaces directly beneath areas to receive controlled fill are to be cleared, grubbed, and stripped of
topsoil. The area is then to be scarified and compa( led to a depth of 6 inches to the same density as the
controlled fill to be placed thereon.
E Fill material sh.rll be taken from approved borrow areas. It shalt be clean soil, tree of roots, woody
vegetation, oversized stones, rocks, sandy soil, or other objectionable material.
5. Blasting is not permitted within 25 feet of existing utilities without owner permission.
