We offer the following suggestions concerning some of the project details. Since these pertain to items located off the VDOT right-of-way, the selection of the appropriate detail is at your discretion: 1. On sheet 13, two copies of VDOT detail CG-12A are provided, but neither is the latest VDOT detail for curb ramps. The latest detail for the CG-12 Detectable Warning Surface includes CG-12 sheets 1 of 4 (page 203.05) and 2 of 4 (page 203.05A) revised 7/05, which provide details for the Type A (Perpendicular) curb ramp application. Copies of all four sheets of the latest detail are attached for your reference. 2. On sheet 4, the dimensions of the curb ramp are not consistent with the detail for CG-12A on sheet 13, or with the dimensions on the latest VDOT standard detail, that is, the length of the ramp should be 8 feet to maintain the maximum slope of 12:1, rather than the 5 feet shown on the plans. 3. On sheet 13, the VDOT standard detail PB-1 (page 107.01) was revised 7/05. The application for site plan for this property appears to have little measurable impact on Front Royal Pike, Route 522, the VDOT facility which would provide access to the property. Please provide 6 sets of the final plans for VDOT approval and distribution. Prior to any work performed on the State's right-of-way, a land use permit will need to be applied for and issued to cover said work.
