The proposed driveway addition should be at least prime -and -sealed. Section 165-140 of the Zoning Ordinance specifies that nonconforming uses can only be expanded by 50%, measured in terms of the total site area of nonconforming uses. Anything greater than 50% needs to meet today's standards. Total and ground floor areas have been added to the Plan. 6. The existing entrance spans the length of the existing gravel parking lot. The Church does not propose any improvements to the VDOT right-of-way. Due to the size of this project, a new entrance is not necessary. 7. Dimensions of all buildings and roads have been added to the Plan. 8. The location of the existing gravel parking lot is shown on the Plan. No paved parking area is proposed. The Church considers the existing gravel area to be adequate in size to serve the congregation. Since the Church is not proposing a major building campaign, only a 1,870 s.f. addition, the paved parking area would be a major and unnecessary expense. The reviewer is encouraged to visit this site to review the rural setting. Other churches of this size (and larger) located off Green Spring Road are served by gravel parking lots. 9. A note regarding outdoor lighting has been added to the Plan. 10. A note regarding outdoor trash receptacles has been added to the Plan. IL A note regarding outdoor storage has been added to the Plan. 12. The existing number of seats has been added to the Plan. The proposed addition has been planned to serve the existing congregation. Therefore, the proposed number of seats remains unchanged. 13. The existing parking lot is labeled on the Plans. 14. The Church is aware of the 12' driveway width. Vehicles will pull in to the driveway and back out into the parking lot. We have reviewed this Plan with Tim Welsh, Assistant Fire Marshal. He does not have a problem with the 12' driveway, but we must post `Fire Lane' signs. 15. A map legend has been added. 16. The proposed use has been added. 17. The existing sign has been located. No other sign is proposed. A statement has been added to the Plans. 18. The Site Plan validation note has been added. 19. Since no improvements are proposed to the parking lot, Handicap spaces have not been added. However, the bottom entrance to the new addition has been designed for handicap access.
