Board of Supervisors
Frederick County, Va.
SUBJECT: Zoning Ordinance, Article 11, Paragraph 11-6-8
Gentlemen:
Subject Paragraph requires that there shall be provided, at the time a new
retail store is erected, one (1) off—street parking space for each one hund—
red (100) square feet of retail floor space in the building.
The number of parking spaces required under that provision substantially ex—
ceeds the number that knowledgeable retail operators require to serve their
operations and thus is a deterrent to the development of new retail facili—
ties in the County.
Accordingly, I respectfully request that Paragraph 1.1-6-8 of the Zoning
Ordinance be amended to require one (1) parking space for each two hundred
(200) square feet of floor space in the building rather than (1) parking space
for each one hundred (100) square feet of retail store space.
Respectfully submitted,
i
