Frederick County Sanitation Authority -- Sewer and Water
lines will have to be extended in accordance with plans at
the expense of the developer. Sewer and water capacity
is available.
Va. Department of Highways and Transportation -- Satisfactory.
Zoning -- Satisfactory
Planning -- The orientation of this building is to Route 522
NOT to the entrance street of the shopping center, that means
that Route 522 traffic will see only the brick side of the
building, parking, and the trash container at the back door.
High's can do better than that.
Staff Recommendation:
This site plan should be modified to face the building to the
east, and screen the back door and trash container. The reason for this
recommendation is that the High's store built on Route 7 is oriented as
proposed here and the appearance is very poor. Also this is at the entrance to
what will become a shopping center and every effort should be made to do the
most attractive job possible.
Planning Commission Recommendation:
The Commission recommends that the trash container is out of
sight and the east wall of the store be built with attractive brick, by
a four (4) to two (2) vote.

Route 739 has only 18 foot pavement with -2942 vehicles per day, consideration
should be given to constructing this entrance :to at least 40' width to provide
adequate area for turning vehicles.

have been received, but we have not received any new information on
the design of the store itself or the method of solid waste storage.

Dear Ron:
In regard to your letter of May 22, 1978, please be advised
that I know of no new information on the design of the store
itself. If you would advise'specifically what information you
desire, I would be glad to answer the questions.
As to your inquiry concerning the method of solid waste,
the store plans to use an outside container similar to that used
by other High's stores and other stores in the area. It would
be placed near the back of the store until such time as the rear
area is developed, at which time'the storage will be moved and
a fence placed around same.
Insofar as the matter was not heard on Wednesday, May 17,
1978, when I anticipated same, I, will not be able to attend the
meeting on June 7th. If there are Iany questions that you antici-
pate ahead of time, I would appreciate attempting to provide the
answers to them for you.

plan for the High's store on Route 522 West.
