This is to acknowledge and thank you for your letter dated November
24, 1986. During our meeting in April, 1986 we advised you if you
planned to do any additional construction work to the existing
entrances they would have to be brought to our minimum commercial
entrance standards. You indicated due to funds you will not be
able to reconstruct the existing entrances at this time.
You indicated in item #1 you are not currently having any problems
with your northern and southern entrances. It is felt the center
entrance across from Route 645 should be closed due to the inadequate
sight distance which I pointed out in our April meeting.
If it is the Church's intention not to reconstruct the existing
entrances at this time, we will not require that they be brought
to the current Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation's
minimum requirements providing the traffic patterns do not change
as a result of the addition to the Church. Should the volume of

than what has previously been explained, we would require the
entrance to be brought to VDH&T commercial entrance standards at
that time.

MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT: Shawnee
ADJACENT LAND USE AND ZONING: Residential and vacant land use and A-2
(Agricultural General),
Zoning
RP (Residential Performance), and MH-1 (Mobile Home Park)
PROPOSED USE AND IMPROVEMENTS: Church addition with site improvements
REVIEW EVALUATIONS:
Highway Department - The existing entrances are substandard. We will need a
site plan showing a standard commercial entrance. A permit must be applied
for and approved before doing any work on the State's right-of-way.
Health Department - No objection; two classrooms and kitchen for intermittent
use proposed. Present system indicates satisfactory operation.
Greenwood Fire Company - No comment.
Inspections Department - Proposed addition to be designed and built in
compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and applicable
referenced standards for Use Group A-4 (church).
Planning and Zoning - No objection. The proposed addition and site
improvements meet all applicable zoning requirements.
STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS: Approval.
