New Branch for Bank of Frederick Co.
The three -year -old Bank of Frederick County has com-
pleted the planning for its first branch office and bids
for the 2,900 square foot building are being sought.
Ronald F. Miller, president of the Stephens City based
bank said the branch is planned for a 2.5 acre site in
front of the Crown Cork and Seal plant on Rt. 11 north
of Winchester. Miller said a Sunoco service station
formerly occupied the site. He added that when the
Stonewall Branch finally opens in November, the total
cost of the expansion, including the site purchase, will
be approximately $300,000. While awaiting comple-
tion of the new building, however, the branch is
already open and operating from a temporary trailer.
Miller said the business already generated at the
branch is encouraging. Since Feb. 15, when it opened,
more than 150 new checking and savings accounts
have been started representing more than $1.7
million in deposits.
