Loudoun Street, 2nd Floor Winchester, Virginia 22601 Douglas A. Kiracofe Fire Marshal When the site plan was reviewed initially there were two discrepancies noted. 1. The hydrant was 450' from the proposed building and Chapter 10 requires hydrant within 3001. 2. The fire lane shown is 12' wide and Chapter 10 requires 20' width on fire lanes. Looking ahead at future plans for this area, the hydrant placed where shown will best serve future needs. The proposed building will be minimal hazard and Chief Weller from Stephens City VFD seems satisfied with the 450' distance. Also, he has stated that the 12' walkway will be sufficient for access since the entire area between fields will be compacted in such a manner to support apparatus. Therefore, this should serve as approval of the site plan as submitted and dated 12/5/91. While working on the State's right-of-way it will be necessary to use "Men Working" signs which must be erected prior to starting work and removed daily. 2. All work on the right-of-way is to be confined to the temporary entrance location only. 5. All appropriate agency reviews have been received with the exception of the Virginia Department of Transportation (V.D.O.T). I would anticipate receiving their review anytime. The Parks and Recreation Department has applied for a grant (Recreational Access Funding) to the Virginia Department of Transportation to fund the construction of the access road to the complex. Consequently, the Virginia Department of Transportation has had an opportunity to review the site plan during the design phase of the project and the engineer has been working with V.D.O.T. on the roadway design. Due to the need to have this facility completed by the beginning of the school year 1993, I would like to have the site plan reviewed by the Planning and Development staff and included on the next Planning Commission agenda.
