EXISTING ASBESTOS-CEMENT WATER MAIN AND SANITARY MAIN.
C.INSTALL JOINT RESTRAINTS ON EXISTING MAIN IF REQUIRED BY FREDERICK
WATER INSPECTOR PRIOR TO SHUT-DOWN.
D.INSTALL A MINIMUM OF (1) FULL PIPE JOINT OF DIP CL52 WATERLINE BETWEEN THE
PROPOSED BENDS AND REMAINING ASBESTOS-CEMENT PIPE PER FREDERICK
WATER INSPECTOR REQUIREMENTS.
E.PREPARE WORK AS FAR IN ADVANCE AS POSSIBLE TO MINIMIZE SHUT DOWN TIME.

STORM SEASONS, INCLUDING CLEANING AND REMOVAL OF

B. IMPLEMENTATION OF EROSION CONTROL MEASURES AS NEEDED IN
THE LONG-TERM TO MITIGATE THE EFFECTS OF EROSION ON OPEN
SLOPES ADJACENT TO AND WITHIN THE DEVELOPMENT.
C. PERMANENT RE-VEGETATION OF THE FILL SLOPES USING PROVEN

2. MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION:
THE STORM-WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION PLAN SHALL INCLUDE
MAINTENANCE, REPAIR, AND TRACKING PROCEDURES TO ENSURE THAT
ALL GRADED SURFACES AND MITIGATION MEASURES, AND OTHER
PROTECTIVE DEVICES, IN SITE PLAN, ARE MAINTAINED IN A GOOD AND

Transportation Management Plan
1.Temporary Traffic Control Plan
a.General Notes
1.This project is classified as a TMP Type “A” project. Traffic on the project is commercial with an
employee vehicle and customer usage with minimal commercial trucks. The traffic volume for the
mainline is 19,000 ADT with a posted 45 MPH speed limit.
2.The project is located on North Frederick Pike in Frederick County, approximately 400' west of the
intersection with Darlington Drive (Rte. 1311).
3.The work consists of installing a new commercial entrance and the extension of a right-turn lane.
The existing road is a two lane section with approximate 12' lanes and a right-turn lane extending
to the western property line from the existing entrance.
4.The work zone will be approximately 500 feet in length at the entrance.
5. The work zone will consist of a shoulder closure following the Virginia Work Area Protection
Manual (VWAPM) and the MUTCD.
6.The work zone will be in operation Monday through Friday, during day light hours.
7.The contractor shall provide an intermediate level Work Zone Safety Coordinator to develop the
work zone and at least a basic level Work Zone Safety Coordinator to monitor and maintain the
work zone.
8.The shoulder closure will follow TTC-5.0 of the VWAPM. Signing project limits will follow TTC-53.0
of the VWAPM.
9.The contractor shall submit a detailed traffic control plan to VDOT for review 14 days prior to any
construction on VDOT Right-of-Way.
10.The contractor shall maintain adequate access and sight distance to all properties. Emergency
Vehicles and Postal Vehicles shall have access to properties at all times.
11.All equipment and material storage shall be located outside of the clear zone. The clear zone for
this project is 15' beyond the edge of the existing pavement.
12.Entrances, Intersections, and Pedestrian Access: There are no intersections or pedestrian
accesses impacted by the site development.
b)Refer to this sheet of the Site Plan Document for typical sections, details, and layout of the lane
configurations within the work zone per the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual and the
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
2.Public Communications Plan
a.The Contractor shall notify the VDOT Project Manager/Residency Administrator of scheduled
work plans and traffic delays a minimum of seven (7) days prior implementation of the work.
VDOT will provide project information to the Staunton District Public Affairs in advance of the
start of construction and weekly updates by noon on Thursday for the following weeks work.
Changes in the work plans shall be made immediately known to VDOT.
b.The Contractor shall notify the VDOT Project Manager/Residency Administrator of any
