Buildings shall comply with The Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (VUSBC) Sections
311, S Storage of the International Building Code/2012, the 2012 VUSBC/ International Fire
Code. Other Code that applies is ICC Al 17.1-3-09. Accessible and Usable Buildings and
Facilities and 2012 Virginia Energy Code
Proposed 1015740 sq ft building shall comply with height and area per T503 for type of
construction or unlimited area facilities (Section 507, Unlimited Area Buildings) and maintain an
open perimeter of 60'. Question to the location of the building fire connection.
Fire pump shall meet NFPA 20.
All required exits shall meet ANSI Al 17.1-09 for accessibility and slopes. Question on the
location of exterior exits along southeast perimeter walls. Maximum travel distance per
IBC/tTSB to an exit is 400' . All required exits shall be accessible. Exterior area of refuge
shall comply with Section 1016 of the USBCABC. Maximum travel distance to restrooms
shall be in accordance with Section 2902.3.2. (Maximum 500' unless otherwise approved by
AHJ)
North, south, and east exits appear to be higher than FF slab. Question on accessible
entrance/exits
High Pile Storage shall comply with the International Fire Code. High pile storage areas requires
fire department access around perimeter of the building. The access doors shall not be spaced
further apart than 100'
ANSI parking spaces provided as required per Tl 106, 1. Accessible parking and unloading shall
not exceed 2% slope (1:48). Accessible Route shall extend from parking and unloading area to
accessible route to main entrance. Curb ramps shall have a minimum 3' landing at the top and
bottom of the landing. Van spaces require minimum unloading area 8' with 8' of parking or a
minimum of 11' wide parking with 5' of unloading space is required. No enlargement provided.
Accessible route with max 5% slopes shall be provided from parking/unloading to main entrance.
Public entrances into spaces larger than 3000 sq ft shall be provided with a vestibule as detailed
per ANSI A 117.1-09
All structural plans submitted for permit application shall be sealed by a VA Design Professional
Special inspection requirements of Chapter 17 of IBC shall apply to this type of structure. (soils,
compaction, concrete, steel etc.)
Light poles require permits and inspections
A geotechnical evaluation shall be performed and submitted with application as required
USBC/IBC Section 1803.
