Building shall comply with the 2012 Virginia Construction Code, 2012 Virginia Rehabilitation Code and
ANSI Al 17.1-2009 Accessible and Usable Building and Facilities. Other code(s) that may apply if the
building is conditioned is the Virginia Energy Code 2012 and the Virginia Mechanical Code 2012.
Enclosing area and expanding showroom. Building area shall maintain height and area as required under
T503 with applicable increases. Existing fire barriers are in place and will be required, in lieu of
sprinkler, to meet height and area requirements.
Question of the location of exits, accessible entrance, elevations, and slopes
Handicap Van Parking is required. Minimum width for parking and unloading is 8' w/8' unloading or 11'
w/5' unloading. Accessible parking signage for van shall include $500 fine. See USBC Section 1106.8
for Van accessible signage.
Accessible parking quantities shall comply with T1106.1(1)
Max slope for walkways is 5%. Maximum slope for landings at door and top/bottom of ramps is 2%.
All required egress/exits shall be Accessible per ANSI Al 17.1-09. Walking surface shall meet ANSI
A 117.1-09 for surface gaps/edges. Ramps above 6" in height require guardrails.
Please note the requirements in Chapter 17 of BOCA for special inspection requirements on the type of
structure ( Soils, concrete etc.) Compaction/soil bearing/soil testing shall be required for placement of
new store.
12/6/16 Parking totals include those used for display. Revised quanities ok per TI 106.1(1). Installing
new accessible curb ramp. New ramp shall comply with ANSI A 117.1-09. Maximum threshold at new
entrance door is %2". Accessible route to entrance provided. Maximum slope of parking and unloading is
2%. Maximum slope of accessible route and walkway is 5%.
