Other Code that may apply are ICC/ANSI At 17.1-09 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities and International Energy Code 2012. Structural plans submitted for permit application shall be sealed by a Virginia Licensed Design Professional. Existing Restaurant remodel shall conform to the requirements of the Virginia Rehabilatation Code for new use. Renovations to the existing structure requires a building permit. An asbestos inspection is required on renovations to existing buildings constructed prior to 1985. Additions to the existing building shall not create any extension of nonconformity in the code or make any nonconformity worse. Additions to the building shall be addressed as separate fire areas or a sprinkler system may be required.
