DEMOLITION NOTES
1. SUBMIT THE PROCEDURES PROPOSED FOR DEMOLITION WORK TO THE
ARCHITECT/ENGINEER AND CITY REGULATORY AGENCIES FOR APPROVAL TWO
WEEKS PRIOR TO START OF DEMOLITION WORK. THE PROCEDURES SHALL PROVIDE
FOR SAFE CONDUCT, CAREFUL REMOVAL AND DISPOSITION OF MATERIALS
SPECIFIED TO BE SALVAGED, PROTECTION OF PROPERTY TO REMAIN UNDISTURBED,
COORDINATION WITH OTHER WORK IN PROGRESS AND TIMELY DISCONNECTION OF
UTILITIES. THE PROCEDURES SHALL INCLUDE A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE
METHODS AND EQUIPMENT USED FOR EACH OPERATION AND THE SEQUENCE OF
OPERATIONS.
2. THE WORK INCLUDES DEMOLITION OR REMOVAL OF ALL CONSTRUCTION INDICATED
OR SPECIFIED. ALL MATERIALS RESULTING FROM DEMOLITION WORK, EXCEPT AS
INDICATED OR SPECIFIED OTHERWISE, SHALL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE
CONTRACTOR AND SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE LIMITS OF THE PROPERTY.
RUBBISH AND DEBRIS FROM THE PROPERTY DAILY UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED
SO AS TO NOT ALLOW ACCUMULAT10N. STORE MATERIALS THAT CANNOT BE
REMOVED DAILY AWAY FROM THE SCHOOL IN A MANNER THAT SAFETY OF THE
PUBLIC IS ENSURED.
3. CONTROL THE AMOUNT OF DUST FROM DEMOLIT10N TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF
DUST AND TO AVOID THE CREATION OF A NUISANCE IN THE SURROUNDING AREAS.
REFRAIN FROM USING WATER WHEN IT WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS OR
OBJECTIONABLE CONDITIONS SUCH AS ICE, FLOODING AND POLLUTION.
4. FILL HOLES, DEPRESSIONS, BASEMENTS AND ANY OTHER HAZARDOUS OPENINGS
WITH CONTROLLED FILL AS SPECIFIED.
5. CONDUCT DEMOLITION OPERATIONS AND REMOVAL OF DEBRIS TO MINIMIZE
INTERFERENCE WITH ROADS, STREETS, WALKS AND OTHER ADJACENT OCCUPIED
AND USED FACILITIES. DO NOT CLOSE OR OBSTRUCT STREETS, WALKS OR OTHER
OCCUPIED OR USED FACILITIES WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM FREDERICK COUNTY
GOVERNMENT AND THE FREDERICK COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD
REPRESENTATIVE. IF REQUIRED BY GOVERNING REGULATIONS, PROVIDE ALTERNATE
ROUTES AROUND CLOSED OR OBSTRUCTED TRAFFIC WAYS. ENSURE SAFE
PASSAGE OF PERSONS AROUND AREAS OF DEMOLITION.
6. BEFORE BEGINNING ANY DEMOLITION OR CUTTING, SURVEY THE EXISTING WORK
AND EXAMINE THE DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF
WORK. TAKE ALL NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO ENSURE AGAINST DAMAGE TO
EXISTING WORK TO REMAIN IN PLACE, TO BE REUSED, OR TO REMAIN THE
PROPERTY OF THE OWNER. REPAIR OR REPLACE ANY DAMAGE TO SUCH WORK
AS APPROVED BY ARCHITECT/ENGINEER AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO OWNER.
CAREFULLY COORDINATE DEMOLITION WITH ALL OTHER WORK AND CONSTRUCT AND
MAINTAIN SHORING, BRACING AND SUPPORTS AS REQUIRED. ENSURE THAT
STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS ARE NOT OVERLOADED AND INCREASE STRUCTURAL
SUPPORTS OR ADD NEW SUPPORTS AS MAY BE REQUIRED AS A RESULT OF ANY
CUTTING, REMOVAL OR DEMOLITION WORK PERFORMED UNDER ANY PART OF THIS
CONTRACT.
7. COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF ALL CITY, STATE, AND FEDERAL
REGULATIONS.
8. LOCAL REGULATIONS REGARDING HAULING AND DISPOSAL APPLY.
9. TITLE TO ALL MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT TO BE DEMOLISHED, EXCEPT WHERE
INDICATED TO REMAIN PROPERTY OF OWNER, IS VESTED IN THE CONTRACTOR
UPON RECEIPT OF NOTICE TO PROCEED. THE OWNER WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE
FOR THE CONDITION, LOSS OR DAMAGE TO SUCH PROPERTY AFTER NOTICE TO
PROCEED.
10. REMOVE CONCRETE, MASONRY AND OTHER NON—COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS OTHER
THAN CONCRETE PERMITTED TO REMAIN IN PLACE, FROM THE OWNER'S PROPERTY
AND DEPOSIT IN AN APPROPRIATE LEGAL DUMP SITE. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PERMITS REQUIRED FOR DISPOSAL OF DEMOLISHED
MATERIALS. TRANSPORT DEBRIS IN A MANNER TO PREVENT SPILLAGE ON
STREETS OR ADJACENT AREAS.
SITE PLAN NOTES
1. ALL DIMENSIONS SHOWN ARE TO FACE OF BUILDING, FACE OF CURB, EDGE OF
PAVEMENT, AND PERPENDICULAR TO PROPERTY LINES.
2. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT "MISS UTILITY" (800-552-7001) FOR MARKING OF
U11LIlIES 72 HOURS PRIOR TO ANY EXCAVATION OR CONSTRUCTION.
3. UTILITIES SHOWN ON THESE PLANS REPRESENT UTILITY LOCATIONS AS DETERMINED
FROM AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFICATION
OF ALL UTILITY LOCATIONS, DEPTHS AND SIZES PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. IF EXISTING
CONDITIONS ARE DIFFERENT THAN THAT WHICH IS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS, NOTIFY
THE ARCHITECT/ENGINEER IMMEDIATELY.
4. THERE MAY EXIST UTILITIES WHICH HAVE NOT BEEN SHOWN ON THE PLANS AND OF
WHICH THERE IS NO RECORD. IF ACTIVE UTILITIES ARE ENCOUNTERED WHICH WERE
NOT INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS, CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE APPROPRIATE
UTILITY COMPANY AND THE ARCHITECT/ENGINEER IMMEDIATELY. CONTRACTOR SHALL
TAKE NECESSARY STEPS TO RESTORE UTILITY SERVICE TO ANY DAMAGED UTILITIES AS
SOON AS POSSIBLE.
5. CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY THE LOCATIONS OF ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES
