Re: Review Comments for Minor Site Plan #09-19, Thermo Fisher -Scientific —
Parking Space Addition Striping Plan

Dear Mr. Tweedie:
Planning Staff has reviewed the above -referenced minor site plan to determine if
administrative approval can be granted. At this time, administrative approval cannot be
granted. This site plan will not be approved until the issues in this letter, as well as all
issues of the other review agencies, have been adequately addressed. Please review Staff's
comments listed below and then prepare a revised site plan which adequately addresses
each concern.
Review Comments:
1) Site Plan Reference Number. Add the Site Plan (SP) #09-19, to the cover_ sheet.
2) Signed Seal. A signed seal of the certified Virginia land surveyor, architect, or
engineer who prepared the site plan is required on final copies for signature by the
Zoning Administrator.
3) Proposed Use. Revise "Proposed Improvement Use" to "parking space addition
and striping."
4) Previous Approvals. Revise "Previously Approved Site Plans" SP approval #17-
18 to #15-18.
5) Parking Setbacks. Revise the note to reflect the required and provided front, side
and rear setbacks for parking in the M1 Zoning District.
6) Landscaping. Provide calculations showing the requirement for shade trees (1 tree
per 10 parking spaces), the total number of trees currently provided, and the
addition of one (1) tree for the proposed 10 parking spaces.
7) Pedestrian Connectivity. Label the existing sidewalk adjacent to the building;

specify the provided sidewalk width.
8) Auncy Approvals. Comment sheets (approvals) are required from the following
agencies: the Frederick County Inspections Department, and the Frederick County
Fire Marshal.
After you have revised the minor site plan, please resubmit one (1) copy via email so that
Staff may verify the information contained on the plan addresses the above comments.
Staff will also need all approved review agency comment sheets and at least five (5) hard
copies of the final plan for approval and a digital (PDF) copy for the project file. Do not
