Buildings shall comply with The Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code Sections 311, S
Storage. Other Code that applies is ICC Al 17.1-3-09 Accessible and Usable Buildings and
Facilities and 2012 Virginia Energy Code
Proposed additions shall maintain type of construction as the existing facility. Increased area of
the building shall still meet height and area of T503 or Section 507, Unlimited Area buildings
which requires 60' open perimeter
All required exits shall meet ANSI Al 17.1-09 for accessibility and slopes. Accessible exits shall
be provided to meet the 400' travel distance. Two exits accessible to grade
All structural plans submitted for permit application shall be sealed by a VA Design Professional
Special inspection requirements of Chapter 17 of IBC shall apply to this type of structure. (soils,
concrete, steel etc.)
A geotechnical evaluation shall be perfonned and submitted with application as required
USBC/IBC Section 1803.

A VDOT review was conducted for the ARI - Warehouse Addition site plan with a design date of August 8,
2018. Based on the review of the drawings, the existing entrance from Route 1320 is adequate and
acceptable to our office. Please ensure that all applicable agencies have the most recent set of approved
Drawings.
We offer the following general comments:
• Our review and comments are general in nature. Should details be overlooked during plan review or
conditions in the field exist such that additional measures are warranted, such measures shall be
completed to the satisfaction of the department.
• Materials used and methods of construction shall adhere to the current observed VDOT Road and
Bridge Specifications, Road and Bridge Standards, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and Land
Use Permit Special Provisions.
• All drainage is to be carried within the right-of-way in ditch lines or gutters along the street to a pipe
or drainage easement.
• Any construction related changes to the approved plan must come through the design engineer to
VDOT for approval. Please allow a minimum of 5 business days for VDOT review.
• A Land Use Permit shall be obtained before any work is performed on the State's right-of-way. The
permit is issued by this office and may require application fees, the salary & expenses of a State
assigned inspector, and surety bond coverage.
