DUST CONTROL MEASURES
SEEDING SPECIFICATIONS
TEMPORARY CONTROL MEASURES:
TEMPORARY SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES WILL BE INSTALLED
PRIOR TO ANY MAJOR SOIL DISTURBANCE IN ORDER TO PREVENT ACCELERATED

TRANSPORT OF SEDIMENT BY VEHICULAR TRACKING ONTO THE
PAVED SURFACE. WHERE SEDIMENT IS TRANSPORTED ONTO A
PUBLIC ROAD SURFACE, THE ROAD SHALL BE CLEANED THOROUGHLY
AT THE END OF EACH DAY. SEDIMENT SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE

Transportation Management Plan
1. Temporary Traffic Control Plan
a. General Notes
1. This project is classified as a TMP Type “A” project. Traffic on the project is commercial with
employee vehicles and limited commercial trucks. The traffic volume for the mainline is 350
vehicles per day with a posted speed limit of 25 mph.
2. The project is located on Aviation Drive (Rte. 990) in Frederick County, approximately 0.25
miles south of the intersection Airport Road (Rte. 645).
3. The work consists of installing one new commercial entrance. The existing road is a two lane
section with approximate 12' lanes, with the proposed entrance connection at the terminating
culdesac of Aviation Drive.
4. The work zone will be approximately 100 feet in length for the entrance.
5. The work zone will consist of a shoulder closure on sections of the culdesac following the
Virginia Work Area Protection Manual (VWAPM) and the MUTCD.
6. The work zone will be in operation Monday through Friday, during day light hours.
7. The contractor shall provide an intermediate level Work Zone Safety Coordinator to develop
the work zone and at least a basic level Work Zone Safety Coordinator to monitor and maintain
the work zone.
8. The shoulder closure will follow TTC-5.0 of the VWAPM. Signing project limits will follow
TTC-53.0 of the VWAPM.
9. The contractor shall submit a detailed traffic control plan to VDOT for review 14 days prior to
any construction on VDOT Right-of-Way.
10.The contractor shall maintain adequate access and sight distance to all properties.
Emergency Vehicles and Postal Vehicles shall have access to properties at all times.
11.All equipment and material storage shall be located outside of the clear zone. The clear zone
for this project is 15' beyond the edge of the existing pavement.
12.Entrances, Intersections, and Pedestrian Access:There are no intersections or pedestrian
accesses impacted by the site development.
b) Refer to this sheet of the Site Plan Document for typical sections, details, and layout of the
lane configurations within the work zone per the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual and
the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
2. Public Communications Plan
a. The Contractor shall notify the VDOT Project Manager/Residency Administrator of
scheduled work plans and traffic delays a minimum of seven (7) days prior
implementation of the work. VDOT will provide project information to the Staunton District
Public Affairs in advance of the start of construction and weekly updates by noon on
Thursday for the following weeks work. Changes in the work plans shall be made
immediately known to VDOT.
b. The Contractor shall notify the VDOT Project Manager/Residency Administrator of any
unscheduled traffic delays immediately upon knowing the change to the work schedule.
