CPPC 02-13-06 Meeting MinutesNotes of CPPS Meeting February 13, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. The CPPS held elections for Chairman. Member John Light was unanimously re-elected as Chairman. Senior Planner Susan Eddy welcomed new CPPS member Chris Mo lin, a new Planning Commissioner from the Red Bud District. Item 1— Update from the Planning Commission Annual Retreat Planner Eddy updated members on the Rural Areas (RA) Study. Thi Board of Supervisors will hold a work session on the RA Study. Staff was directed to write po I icies that reflect the table prepared by BOS Chairman Shickle. Staff distributed copies of the table to those that did not already have one. Planner Eddy highlighted the discussion of the Comp Plan AmendmL nt process that had taken place at the retreat. In 2006 the CPPS will hold a meeting on all of tl4e application first. They will make recommendations which will be forwarded to the BOS/PC work session. Members discussed a much shorter, clearer application. Staff was directed to reconsider the current application. Planner Eddy told Members that they had been directed to rank the Rural Community Centers in terms of the need for further study. This will take place at the March Meeting. Staff was asked to look at demographics, land use and traffic counts in the RCC's. Deputy Planning Director Mike Ruddy updated Members on the progress of the UDA study and the endorsements that had been gained at the retreat. Deputy Director Ruddy explained the three tracts that would be followed — working with applicants to improve their products, involving the engineering/design community and involving the public. Members were told of the meeting with the engineering/design community scheduled for March 7th at 11:00. Meeting for the public will likely be held in May. Members discussed bringing in outside expertise if necessary. Members discussed the need for public education. Density will need to be clearly addressed. Member Mohn expressed the opinion that the UDA Study should not leave any areas white (undesignated land use). Affordable Housing was discussed. Member Wilmot expressed a wish to see representatives from the School Department and Sanitation Authority on the CPPS. The meeting ended at 8:45 pm. SKE
