Kent St. Winchester, VA 22601 Board of Zoning Appeals Member: Our property borders the property being discussed at the July 21, 2015, Board of Zoning Appeals meeting. We are unable to attend the public hearing but would like to share our thoughts on the application for variance. We respectfully request Variance Application No. 02-15 for a seven foot side yard variance be denied for the following reasons: 1. A bathroom addition could be built on the property without a variance. 2. The existing house has one of the largest footprints on the street; therefore a hardship does not exist in comparison to other homeowners. 3. The need for a 7 ft. variance is self inflicted. 4. Three feet is simply too close to the property line. One of the reasons we purchased our home is because of the spacing between properties. We ask that one neighbor's desire to build to the property line not outweigh our desire to keep distance between the properties. 5. After being informed by the County of the setbacks in our neighborhood and continuing to build the addition, a shed was disassembled from the center of the property and reassembled on the property line. We request denial of the variance and ask that the shed be moved from the property line to meet the required five foot setback. Sincerely, -' James May Wendy May CERTIFIED MAIL.
