The existing gravel entrance does not satisfy any VDOT commercial entrance standards. Safe sight distance can be obtained at the present location. The entrance must be reconstructed and enlarged to a 24' wide throat with 20' radii. This entrance will require an asphalt surface. Steve agreed that they need to be more specific in the comment that is provided to the applicant. The following will occur: 1) VDOT will redo their comment for the Hockman CUP. 2) VDOT will attach the sketch plan that they do which depicts the minimum standard (for the Hockman CUP and future CUPs). 3) VDOT will develop language which specifies the design standards and make that part of their future CUP comment where commercial entrances are involved.
