Filing with the FAA will automatically go the Virginia Department of Aviation for their review. This is the link to the FAA website where you can get additional information and file the request electronically: https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/externaVportal.isp. The FAA suggests filing at a minimum of 45 days prior to the expected start date of construction for a study to be completed and a determination to be issued. However the actual process can take up to 60 days for completion. Construction equipment shall be marked with aviation obstruction flags while in operation on Airport property at all times. Crane operations must be coordinated with Airport Operations Manager no less than five days prior to start date. • Aviation barricades must be kept in place around the perimeter of the construction site on any adjacent aircraft operation areas. • As built drawings must be submitted to the office of the Executive Director for airport records along with an electronic copy • Perimeter must be kept secured at all times • Contractor is to provide list of authorized personnel allowed onto airport property This completes our review of the proposed site plan. Other Code that applies are the Virginia Mechanical Code for air change, the ICC ANSI A117.1-3-09 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities, 2012 Virginia Energy Code and 2012 Virginia Fire Code. Building shall comply with height and area as allowed per T503 with the applicable increases. Virginia Rehabilitation Code, Section 1102.3 requires existing fire areas increased by the addition shall comply with Chap 9 of the Virginia Building Code, Building shall comply with IBC/USBC 903.2.9 for sprinkler requirements. Question on the location of the underground fire main or separation of fire area with a fire barrier Quantity of hazardous material quantities and limitations shall be as required/limited under T307.1(1) to prevent the structure from falling into an H -Hazardous use group ANSI parking spaces provided as required per T1106,1. Accessible parking and unloading shall not exceed 2% slope (1:48). Accessible Route shall extend from parking and unloading area to accessible route to main entrance. Accessible route with max 5% slopes shall be provided from parking/unloading to main entrance. 20% of the cost of construction shall be applied to ANSI for increasing the accessibility of the facility (ANSI 20% rule) All structural plans submitted for permit application shall be sealed by a VA Design Professional. Please note the requirements in Chapter 17 of the IBC for special inspections for this type of structure.
