HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-17 CommentsStephen White To E LYNN BEIGHTJL fill Hi Lynn, I remember working on this property. I met the health department on site to discuss options regarding the system. It was installed in the 1950s for a three unit apartment complex. We uncovered the tank and distribution boxes. The tank and boxes were all deteriorated and needs replaced. Some of the drainfield lines also needed cleaned out. The drainfield in its current condition is not usable. Based on my meeting with the health department, the property would qualify for a voluntary upgrade for a three bedroom maximum. This would mean that the owner is wanting to make the situation better by putting in a new septic tank, new distribution boxes and cleaning out the drain field lines. This would have to be done by the current owner or whoever owns the property at the time. I don't have any formal approval letters discussing this as they don't issue certification letters for this type of situation. The process would be that whoever wanted to have the work done whether it's the current owner or a new owner, I would prepare the voluntary upgrade application packet to be submitted to the health department. Along with that is what is called a hold harmless agreement stating that the owner understands that the system is an older system and they are voluntarily doing the upgrades and they will not hold the health department liable should the drainfield malfunction. Hopefully this helps explain the situation. Let me know if you have any questions. The address is 1549 f=ront Royal Pike. There is an old septic system in the ground. Apparently you came across it while researching the property. The septic tank & distribution box are uncovered. You had suggested to Josue that the Health Dept. would approve future use of the site with new boxes installed along with other requirements. Josue wasn't sure if you actually prepared paperwork for the Health Dept. or would just wait until he decided to build. I have another buyer interested in the property but he was looking for anything that might have been documented.
