ORDINANCE
April 8, 2026
The Board of Supervisors of Frederick County, Virginia, hereby ordains that Frederick County
Code, Chapter 158 (Vehicles and Traffic), Article III County Vehicle Licenses, Section 158-9
(Fees) be amended as follows (deletions shown in and additions shown in
bold underline):
CHAPTER 158 VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC
Article III County Vehicle Licenses
§ 158-9 Fees
There is hereby levied and assessed an annual license tax, fee or charge on all such motor
vehicles required to be licensed in the County in the amount of$45$30, except motorcycles, for
which the license tax, fee or charge is $10, and except for"antique motor vehicles," as defined
and licensed in Title 46.2 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, and as provided for herein,
and vehicles not registered for use on highways, for which there is no annual license tax, fee or
charge, and further except that such license tax, fee or charge shall in no event be greater than
the amount of the license tax, fee or charge by the commonwealth on such motor vehicles.

RE: Frederick County Code, Chapter 158 (Vehicles and Traffic), Section 158-9 (Fees)
This ordinance updates the County Code to reflect the annual vehicle license (decal) fee
of$30 to be enacted as part of the Fiscal Year 2027 County budget.
