Item 3: Exit 317 Interchange Project – VDOT Presentation of Progress, Study, and Alternatives
Topic Synopsis
VDOT and their consultant team from ATCS will be making a presentation regarding the preliminary
design and required study elements of the interchange design that are part of State and Federal project
approval to the committee. This will include proposed adjustments to the project scope to address items
identified within that study process which VDOT will be seeking local and MPO concurrence on as the
project moves forward.
Recommended Action
Following the VDOT presentation and discussion, Staff is seeking a recommendation to the Board to
for concurrence on the recommended alternative.

Item 4: Transportation Alternatives Program Projects – Update and Action on 2024 Awards
Topic Synopsis
In 2024 the CTB awarded the County funding on all three of the County’s 2023 Transportation
Alternatives Program project applications.
These projects are as follows:
1. Warrior Drive Multiuse Path – Crossing of Tasker Road to the north and extension of the path
to the northern terminus of Warrior Drive. This project also includes filling in a gap in the trail
network just south of the Handy Mart property, thus creating continuous trail along the majority
of Warrior drive between its northern terminus and Sherando Park.
2. Inverlee Way Pedestrian upgrades – addition of pedestrian accommodations between Kinross
Drive and Route 50 as well as a crosswalk of Inverlee way parallel to Route 50 at the
Iverlee/Route 50 intersection.
3. Valley Mill Road Pedestrian upgrades – Extension of sidewalk from it’s current terminus at
the edge of the Dowell J Howard property, west to a midblock crossing point across from the
Walgreens with an upgrade for the crossing.
All three projects are under the management of the VDOT Small Projects Team and County staff has
been coordinating with that team. Recent updates to the cost estimates have resulted in expected
shortfalls when compared to the estimates developed when the projects were applied for and staff will be
updating the committee on the impacts and potential next steps.
Recommended Action
Following discussion Staff will be seeking a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors.

Renaissance Drive
As of July 18th, Renaissance Drive is open to traffic. Work continues to finalize closer of the Springdale
Road rail crossing.
