Frederick County, Virginia on the Ist day of February, 2949.

BILL APPROVED: Account of 032.64 was approved and ordered to be paid from the General
County Fund by warrant number II437.
PREPARATION BUDGET
The object of this meeting was to work on the preparation
of the Budget for the year beginning July I, 1949 and ending on the 36th day of June 1950.
Thereupon the greater part of the day was spent on the preparation of the budget. No
other business being transacted.
Upon motion it is ordered that the Board do now adjourn.

SCHOOLS
R. E. Aylor appeared before the Board and presented the
School Board's Amended Budget for the year beginning July 1, 1949 and ending the 30th
day of June, 1950. Upon motion of B. 0., Brumback and seconded by Ellsworth Dodson it
was unanimously approved.
SCHOOL BUDGET
Upon motion of Ellsworth Dodson and seconded by C. E. Garber,
it was unanimously decided that this Board appropriate from the General County Fund to
School Fund for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1949 and ending June 30, 1950,-
$54,384.74.
SALARIES
Upon motion of Ellsworth Dodson and seconded by B. 0. Brumback,
it was decided to increase the salary of I. Fred Stine from $1100.00 per year to $1200.00
per year and the salary of John Wolfe, Assistant County Agent, from $150.00 per year to
0.54
$300.00 per year, and the Home Demonstration Agent, from $679.00 to $1000.00 per year,
and the Janitor's salary from $1200.00 to $1320.00 per year.
GAME WARDEN
Upon motion duly seconded it was unanimously decided and order
that the salary of the Game Warden be set at $600.00 per year for the year beginning the
1st day of July, 1949 and ending June 30, 1950.
HEALTH UNIT
Upon motion duly seconded it is ordered that $3500.00 be in-
eluded in the Budget for the support of a Frederick County Health Unit for the fiscal
year beginning July 1, 1949 and ending June 30, 1950.
SECONDARY ROAD MATTERS -'IMPROVEMENTS.
A number of some with petitions, appeared before
the Board and made requests for improvements and additions to the following roads.
Route 608 - From Route 50 north to Route 679, -
widen and straighten curves.
Route 630 - From Route 679 to int. Route 608;
From 608 to 522 - Improve and surface.
Addition - South East of Stephens City th ro ugh the
Stickley farm to Route 735, - Distance
of 1.3 mile.
Route 724 - Improve and surface.
Route 622 - From Route 11 west to int. 620 -
Straighten curves and widen bridge.
Addition - From Route 644 to Route 50 at East
C. L. of Winchester.
Addition - From Route671 North at Bond's Woods to

Addition - Of Route 7 North to G: M. Morris, 0.3 Mile.

Upon motion, duly seconded, the Highway Department is re-
quested to make the additions and improvements to the above list of roads insofar as it
may be possible so to do.
LEVY
Upon motion duly seconded, it is unanimously ordered that the
Levy for the fiscal year of 1949 - 1950 be set at the following rates on each $100.00 val-
uation.
General County Levy - - - - - - - - - - - = - Thirty -five ($0.35) Cents
School Levy - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - One Hundred ($1.00) Cents
Special Levy for building County High School- Sixty ($0.60) Cents
Total - One Hundred and Ninty -five ($1.95) Cents

RESOLUTION CONCERNING REIMBURSED4ENT OF DAMAGE
CAUSED BY DEER AND SALE OF SPECIAL STAMPS
Upon motion of Ellsworth Dodson and seconded by B. 0. Brum
the following Resolution was adopted.
"That this Board recommends the passage of a Special Act
providing for the reimbursement of damage caused by Deer in Frederick County, Virginia,
the said reimbursement Hind to be obtained from the sale of Special Stamps to all persons
who hunt Deer in Frederick County."

TRUCK - CHIEF FOREST WARDEN
Mr. Edwin Rogers appeared, before the Board and requested that
this Board purchase a truck for the Frederick County Chief Forest Warden. No action was
taken.
APPLE BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
J. Pinckney Arthur of the Apple Blossom Committee, appeared
before the Board and requested that they be given permission to use the Plaza for
amusements from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday and Friday, all to be removed by
early Saturday morning.
Upon motion it was unanimously decided to grant the requested
permission subject, however to the following restrictions; That no bricks be damaged.
No stakes to be driven, no exposed wires to be used and further not to be used for living
quarters and also to post bond if declardd necessary by said Board.

Upon motion duly seconded this Board requests that Roxanne
Rogers, Gainesboro High School be selected as a Princess to represent Frederick County
at the Winchester Apple Blossom Festival to be held in April 1949. The Clerk is ordered
to transmit a copy of this to Roxanne Rogers.

MINERAL LAND ASSESSMENT
E. S. Bailey, Commissioner of Revenue, appeared before the
Board and submitted the assessment of Mineral Lands underdevelopment and. Mineral Lands
not under Development for the Tax year of I949 as required by the Tax Code of Virginia,
section 275.
Upon motion, duly seconded the said assessment was approved as
presented.
BOARD MEETING DATE
Upon motion duly seconded, it is ordered that the Regular
Meeting of this Board be held on the first Tuesday of each month.

paid from the General County Fund by warrant numbers I1532 to 11576 inclusive and Livesto
