the 2nd day of June were read and approved.

A. Massie, Jr. Commonwealth's Attorney, Jame Goss, Superintendant Public Welfare and
Earl S. Bailey, Commissioner of the Revenue were read and approved.
ASSESSMENTS OF MINERAL LANDS
In accordance with section 275 of the tax code of Virginia, Earl S.
Bailey presented the assessments of taxes on Mineral Lands under Development and Mineral
Lands not under Development for the tax year beginning January 1, 2948 and ending Dec.
31, 1948.
Upon motion, duly seconded the said assessments were unanimously
approved.
BILLS APPROVED
Accounts totaling $3,363.68 were approved and ordered to be raid fm
the General County Fund by warrants numbers I0834 to 10878 inclusive and Livestock, Fowl
Claims and Earl Cather's salary totaling $251:80 were approved and ordered to be paid from
the Dog Fund by warrants numbers 982 to 987 inclusive.
Upon motion it is ordered that the Board do now adjourn.

An Ordinance.Requiring the Issuance by the Commissioner of Revenue
of a Building Permit to those Intending to Repair, Erect, Remodel, or Remove Any Building
or Structure in Excess of $500.00 has been passed by the Board of Supervisors of Frederick

County, Virginia, and the failure to comply provides for punishment by fine of $25.00.
The Commissioner of Revenue of Frederick County, Virginia, has thel
building permit forms in his office, and all persons are requested to obtain said permits.)

For Sale and Fireworks in the
reading.
County of Frederick, State of Virginia, and penalties for Violation thereof.
WHEREAS:. the discharge of firecrackers or fireworks, at any time,
throughout the year is. hazardous to the public and the persons so discharging the same;
and creates a nuisance to the public as well as individuals; and,
WHEREAS: the sale of said fireworks is, at the present time,
unlimited and directly results in the exploding of the same at any time in the year;
NOW, BE IT RESOLVED: That the sale and discharge of fireworks is
prohibited except between 8 a.m., July 2, and 6 p. m., July 4, and also between 8 a.m.,
December 23 and 6 p. m., January I. It is further unlawful to sell fireworks on Sunday,
should one occur within the time specified.
CHAPTER 333 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Virginia, in
session 1948 is hereby incorporated into this ordinance by reference as though explicitly
herein set forth.
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that the discharge of firecrackers
and fireworks, of any kind, between the hours of 6, p. m. and•8a. m. is prohibited, except
ten minkites before and after midnight on January I
Throwing torpedos, firecrackers, or other explosives at passing
automobiles, or under the feet of pedestrians, or in any way annoying the general public
is expressly prohibited.
Any person who violates any provision of this act shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof shall be punished accordingly.
The clerk is - ordered to have published in the Winchester Evening
Star a copy of the above ordinance one time each week for two consecutive weeks

Upon motion of B. 0. Brumback, seconded by Ellsworth Dodson the
following resolution was adopted.
Be it resolved that C. E. Garber, member of the Board of Supery
of Frederick County, Virginia and E. S. Marchant, Engineer Virginia State Highway Dept.
are duly authorized to offer E. T. Cooper $8.00, E. L. Henry and J. H. Henry $52.00, L. T.
McKee $I0.00 and J. C. Gold $94.00 for right of way of Virginia State Highway Department
