COMPENSATION OF THE CLERK -OF THIS BOARD Upon motion it is ordered that the Clerk shall receive $I15.00 per year as Clerk of this Board and that said allowance be paid quarterly. SALARY CLERK OF THE COURT Upon motion it is ordered that the Salary of the Clerk of the Court shall be $700.00 per year and that said salary be paid quarterly. JANITORS SALARY It is ordered that the salary of the Janitor for the County Office Building and the County Court House be fixed at $I00.00 per Calander month. GAME WARDEN Upon motion it is ordered that the Salary of the Game Warden be fixed at $35.00 per calendar month JANITORS SALARY - COLORED REST ROOM Upon motion it is ordered that the salary of the Janitor for the Colored rest room be fixed at $28.00 per calendar month. i JANITORS SALARY - LADIES REST ROOM Upon motion it is ordered that the salary of the Janitor for the Ladies Rest Room, be fixed at $40.00 per calendar month. COMPENSATION OF BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Beginning January I, 1948 by agreement of the tdembers of this Board it is ordered, that each member shall receive $19.29 plus mileage for their attendance at each regular meeting, bases on twelve meetings per year,, except the Cha who shall receive $3.50 additional plus mileage for signing the Warrants. SALARY AND EXPENSE ACCOUNTS APPROVED TREASURER, SHERIFF, COMMONWEALTH'S ATTY. , COTAIISSIONER OF REVENUE Upon motion which was duly seconded the salary and expense J account of the Treasurer, namely: $4,000.00 Salary, Deputies $2,400.00, other expenses $391.00 total $6,7.91 The salary and expense accounts of the Sheriff, namely: $3,300. salary Deputies $3,700 Matron, Clerk and Cook $I,000.00 and other expenses $400.00, toatl $8,400.00. The salary and expense account of the Commissioner of Revenue, namely: $3,000.00 salary, Deputies $I,750.00 other expenses $285.00 total $5 and the salary of and expense account of the.Commonwealth's Attorney, Namely: Salary $I,800.00, Secretary $300.00, total $2,I00.00, were unanimously adopted as fixed by the Compensation Board. SANITATION A delegation of citizens of this County appeared before the Board and made protests and also letters of protest were read against the ordinance passed by the Common Council of the City of Winchester, providing for proper sanitation and sewerage of all dwellings now existing and hereafter to be erected in the County of Frederick, State of Virginia, within two miles of the Corporate limits of the City of Winchester. The Two following Resolutions was unanimously.adopted by the above delegations. Resolved!' - That the County of Frederick, State of Virginia will cooperate with the City authorities after the City makes a number of corrections to the Sanitary conditions existing within :._the:.Cjty. operate Resolved: - That the County and City be made to /as one Health Unit. JAIL CONRwfiTTEE Upon motion of B. 0. Brumback and duly seconded, L. B. Whitacre, Grover Teets and C. E. Garber were appointed a Jail Committee to cooperate with ti the City of Winchester's Jail Committee in regards to building a New Jail. FREDERICK COUNTY TUBERCULOSIS ASSOCIATION Mrs. Pansy Wright appeared before the Board and requested See %ie -Sa9 that this Board in corporate in their 1948 - 1949 Budget the amount of $500.00 for the benefit of the Frederick County Tuberculosis Association . Upon motion it was unanimous deceided to include this amount in said Budget. Tuberculosis Exanimation Upon motion by B. 0. Brumback and seconded by C. E. Garber, it is ordered that all persons who handle food in Restaurants in this County, be and are required to have an X Ray Tuberculosis Examination one time during each period of I2 mon to become.fffective as_of April I, 2948. 4 S, 333 WALKER_bSeC. BOND - COUNTY SURVEYOR On motion duly seconded this Board unanimously recommends that the Judge of the Circuit Court, reappoint Walker McC. TELEPHONE IN THE COUNTY AGENTS OFFICE Upon motion it is ordered that this Board pay from the General County Fund $I.50 per month on Telephone Rent on One Telephone in the County Agents Office, AUTHORIZATION AGENT FOR THE STATE AND LOCAL HOSPITALIZATION OF MEDICAL INDIGENT PATIENTS Upon motion duly seconded, C. E. Garber, was designated -as indigent authorizing agent for Hospital /Cases. JOSEPH A. MASSIE - PERMISSION TO PLACE SIGN Upon motion, Jos. A. Massie was given permission to place an office sign near the front door of the County Clerk's Office. BILLS APPROVED ACdounts toatling $2,028.34 were approved and ordered to be paid from the General County Fund by warrants numbers I0673.to I0707 inclusive and totaling $I19.50 Livestock, fowl claims and Earl Cather's Salary /were approved and ordered to be paid from the Dog Fund by warrants numbers 958 to 963 inclusive. P- R- E- S -E -N -T L. B. Whitacre, Chairman, B. 0. Brumback, Ellsworth Dod C. E. Garber and Grover Teets. HOSPITALIZATION OF COUNTY INDIGENT PATIENTS Mr. John H. Rosenberger and Mr. Alberti appeared before the Board and requested that this Board enter into a contract with the Winchester Memorial Hospital for the care and hospitalization of indigent County Patients at the per day rate of $6.72. Upon motion it is ordered that we, the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County, Virginia enter into an agreement with the Winchester MemoTi Hospital for care and hospitalization of indigint County patients, that are authorized by the Authorizing Agent. 334 Lee Grant, City Manager, George Scheder and a number of residents of Glaize Avenue appeared before the Board in regard to a better sewerage system for the property owners of Glaize Avenue. After considerable discussion it was decided to defer action until a later date. Upon motion it is ordered that a Special Meeting be held on Friday February 27, 1948 for the purpose of preparing the Budget for the year of 1948 and 1949. APPLE BLOSSOM FESTIVAL J. Pinckney'Arthur of the apple Blossom Committee, appeared before the Board and requested that they begiven permission to use the Plaza for amusements from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday and Friday all to be removed by Saturday Morning. Upon motion it was unanimously decided to grant the requested permiss subject, however to the following restrictions; That no bricks be damaged, no stakes to quarters be driven, no exposed wires to be used, and not to be used for living /and -also to post bond if deemed necessary by said Board. PREPARATION OF BUDGET The object of this meeting was to work on the preparation of the budget for the year beginning July I, 1948 and ending June 30, 1949.
