HomeMy WebLinkAboutJuly 10, 1950M At the Regular Meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County, Virginia, held in the Supervisors Room over the jerk's Office on the IOth day of July, 1950, the following was a dopted: Whereas.the bridge across Back Creek on route No 522 in ederick County is a narrow bridge and a road hazard it being too arrow for the cars to pass safely: and Whereas there has been many collisions on and near the pproaches this bridge, The:efore, be it Resolved that we, the Board of Supervisors or the,County,pf Frederick, Virginia recommend to the Virginia ighway.Department, that they begin construction of a new bridge t once. Upon motion of Ellsworth Dodson, duly seconded we the Board f Supervisors of Frederick County Virginia requests that the V irginia Highway'Department continue the construction of a section o f route 600.of the State secondary.system from the Sauthern end f project.1334 =0I to Mountain Falls a distance of 2.4 miles, Upon motion duly seconded, we the -Board of Supervisors of ederick County, Virginia, requests that the Virginia Highway epartment construct route number 600 from the intersection of r oute 606 with route 522 at Gainesboro., Frederick County, Virginia a nd continuing Northwardly for a distance of.4 miles to the ntersection with route 685, Attest: ,Clerk ecorded -in Supervisors Minute, ook No. 8 at page 388 ;• v ), � LEE N. The meeting of the last Regular meeting, held on the I2th day of June, 1950 and the Special Meeting, held on the 30th day of June, 3950 were read and approved. REPORTS: I. FRED STINE, JOHN WOLFE, EARL S. BAILEY, EARL CATHER, MRS. A. W. WRIGHT, AGNES SHIRLEY, HARRY L. MICCANN, B. D. FLEENER, DR. CHAPMAN AND JANE GROSS Reports of T. Fred Stine, County Agent, John Wolfe, Assistant County Agent, Earl S. Bailey, Commissioner of Revenue, Mrs. A. W. Wright, Tuberculosis Association, Agnes Shirley, Home Demonstration Agent, Harry L. 11cCann, County Treasurer, B. D. Fleener, District Road Engineer, Dr. Chapman, Helath Unit and Jane Gross, Public lfare, were read and approved. In accordance with section 275 of the Code of Virginia, Earl S. Bailey, presented the assessment on taxes on mineral lands under developement and mineral lands not under development for the tax year beginning January I, 1950 and ending the 31st day of-December, 1950. Upon motion was approved. Upon motion duly seconded it is ordered that the Treasurer transfer 669,517.73 from the General County Fund to the School Fund as the money becomes available. Upon motion duly seconded it is ordered that the School Fund and School Building Fund, shall receive during the current year the full amount of the School Levy. This will be accomplished by paying from the General County Fund to the School Fund aiat the amount of the School Levy and placing the total tax income to the credit of the General Fund and the County Treasurer is ordered to transfer these funds as the Money becomes available. The tentitive Road Budget for I950 -1951 was presented by B. D. Fleener, District Engineer and upon motion duly seconded it was unanimously approved. Therefore, be it Resolved that we, the Board of Supervisors for the County of Frederick, Virginia recommend to the Virginia Highway Department, that they begin Construction of a new bridge at once. Upon motion of Ellsworth Dodson, duly seconded we the Board of 0 Supervis ors �of Frederick County, Virginia requests that the Virginia Highway Department r continue the anstruction of a.section of route 600 of the State secondary system from the Southern end of project 1334 -0I to Mountain Falls a distance of 2.4 miles. ROADS Upon motion duly seconded, we the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County, Virginia, requests that the Virginia Highway Department construct route number 600 from the intersection of route 600 with route 522 at Gainesboro, Frederick County, Virginia and continuing Northwardly for a distance of 4 miles to the intersection with route 685. AUDIT OF ACCOUNTS OF FREDERICK COUNTY Upon motion duly seconded the following resolution was unanimo adopted. Resolved, that this Board requests the Auditor of Public Accounts of the State of Virginia to make the Audit of Frederick County for the year ending June 30, 1950. The Clerk is ordered to transmit a copy of this order to Gordon Bennett, State Auditor, Richmond, Virginia. Upon the request of the Electoral Board of Frederick County, r Virginia that the rent for use of building at the polling places in -this County be increa from two ($2.00) Dollars per day to four ($4.00) Dollars per day. Upon motion duly seconded it is ordered that the pay for room rent at the polling places in this County be hereby is fixed at four ($4.00) Dollars per day. Upon written request of Post Commander, W. W. Baker of the Winchester Post 2I23 of the Veterans of Foreign wars, for permission to hold a Yard Party on the Plaza on Saturday Night July 29, 1950, upon motion the request was granted. JAIL - RESOLUTION FOR THE JOINT WINCHESTER - FREDERICK COUNTY JAIL Upon motion duly seconded it is ordered and authorized that the incarnation of prisoners in the New addition to the Winchester- Frederick County Jail and incorporate into the Winchester- Frederick County Jail s; located at 317 South Cameron Street and that they further authorize /kkack the cell blocks located in the basement of the City Hall of Winchester and adjacent to the Winchester the City of Winchester, Virginia of Police Department wherein prisoners of /the County of Frederick and the Commonwealth of i Virginia may be incarcerated temporarily for a period not to exceed fifteen mss, consecutively, from the td.m:e when first put under arrest and wherein such prisioners may be incarcerated during the day on which they are to appear in the Courts of the City of Winchester and Frederick County, Virginia and when such prisoners are processed for purposes of indentification. BILLS APPROVED Accounts totaling $I2 were approved and ordered to be piad from the General County Fund by warrants numbers I2 to I2532 inclusive and livestock and poultry clgLims and Earl Cather's salary totaling $284.55 were approved and ordered to be paid from the Dog Fund by warrants numbers II40 to II44 inclusive.
