The report of T. W. Russell, Supt of the County Home, I: Fred Stine, County.
Agent, Miss Sprouse Home Demonstration Agent and Harry L. McCann, County Treasurer,
were respectively presented by them, and each report was approved.
BRIDGE OVER CARTER'S FORD.
Mr. Andrew Bell, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce appeared before the
Board with a petition signed by a number of tax pay.ers of this County requesting the
erection of a Bridge over Opequon Creek at.the Ford known as "Carter's Ford ". Upon
motion the petition is ordered filed, action upon.the.matter was deferred at this time,
however, this Board goes on record as favoring the erection of the Bridge in co- operatic
with West Virginia Highway.Department.
COLORED RECREATION CENTER:
Whereas, this Board is advised.that it is contemplated by the Council of the
City of Winchester, Virginia, to establish a recreation, center or park for colored
people on the property of Sara W. Brown and John W. Brown, located about one and one-
half miles from Winchester on the Winchester -Front Royal Road in Shawnee District,
Frederick County, Virginia; and
Whereas, said property is located in a section of the county that is developing
rapidly as a residential section, and is inhabited almost exclusively by white people,
Whereas, this Board feels that the establishment on the aforesaid property

of any project, amusement center or park for colored people would be extremely annoying
and objectionable to the other inhabitants of the community, and would constitute a
public nuisance in said community.
Now thereofore, be it resolved that this Board does hereby go on record as
opposing the establishment.of_any such project at the aforesaid proposed location, and
does further protest to the Council of the City of Winchester, Virginia, against the
establishment of any such project at the said proposed location and
Be it further resolved that a copy of these resolutions be transmitted by the
Clerk to the Council of the City of Winchester, Virginia, and. another copy be trans-
mitted to the owners of the aforesaid property the said.Sara W. Brown and John W. Brown.

Accounts totaling $ 2,042.03
were approved and ordered paid from the
General County Fund by warrants Nos.5513 to 5560 inclusive.
Sheep claims totaling $ 35.90 were approved and ordered to be paid from the
Dog Fund by warrants Nos. 480 to"482 inclusive.
It is ordered that the Board do.now adjourn.

17RINTING AND CERTIFYING VOTING LIST:.
It appearing that the Election to be held Tuesday June 10, 1941, for the
Election of three Commissioners for the Agriculture program under Acts of the Assembly
will use about one -half of the official voting list printed and certified at the expense
of the County., it is unanimously ordered that the Clerk of this Board in presenting the
account for the expenses of the Election include therein as a re- imbursement to the
General County Fund one -half of the cost of printing the voting list and certifying the
same.
Accounts totaling $ 2,352.96 were approved and ordered paid from the
General County Fund by warrants Nos 5561 to5603 inclusive.
Sheep claims totaling $ 89.25 were approved and ordered to be paid from
the Dog Fund by warrants Nos 483 to 487 inclusive.
It is ordered that the Board do now adjourn.
