HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC_07-03-68_Meeting_Minutes- 73 - MINUTES OF PLANNING COMMISSION OF HELD July 3, THE MEETING OF THE FREDERICK COUNTY, 1968 - 4:00 P.M. VIRGINIA The Meeting was called to order by J. W. Golladay, Chairman. Members Present: Elmer Venskoske; R. W. Williams, Sanitarian; Belmont Fout; C. L. Ritter; D. K. Russell; J. A. Massie, Jr., Secretary; and C. E. Bass. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Golladay informed the Commission that the petition of Joseph Hughes and wife and Shenandoah Brick and Tile Corporation had been referred back to the Planning Commission by the Board of Supervisors. Mr. Seymour Barr, General Manager of Shenandoah Brick and Tile Corporation, and on behalf of Joseph Hughes and unfe, appeared and informally spoke to the Commission outlining the evidence that came before the Board of Supervisors at a Public Hearing on June 24, 1968. He presented exhibits which had been previously presented to the Board of Supervisors, and informed the Commission on what he intended to present at a Public Hearing of the Commission, and requested that a Public Hearing be held as soon as possible. Mr. Barr then departed and there was a general discussion concerning the situation. On Motion duly made and seconded, it was resolved that there be a Public Hearing on August 7, 1968 at 4:00 o'clock, P.M., to reconsider the petition of Joseph Hughes and wife and Shenandoah Brick and Tile Corporation for the re= zoning of 202 Acres, more or less, lying North of Virginia Route # 7, and East of Interstate Route # 81, in Stonewall District, Frederick County, Virginia, from Residential and Business to Industrial, for the purpose of strip mining shale for the use of the Shenandoah Brick and Tile Corporation. Motion was duly passed. Whereupon, the Commission requested the Secretary . to invite Marvin M. Sutherland, Director, Department of Conservation and Economic Development, Commonwealth of Virginia I - 74 - to appear before the Commission at the Public Hearing. On Motion duly made and seconded, the following resolution was adopted, unanimously: BE IT RESOLVED that the Nanning Commission invite the Board of Supervisors and the Sanitation Authority to meet with the Planning Commission on July 26th, 1968, at 4:00 o'clock, P.M., to hear the preliminary report of McNair and Associates concerning their county'!4ide study and report of water and sewer needs of Frederick County.
