A Technologies Committee meeting was held in the I"Floor Conference Room at 107 N Kent
Street on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. Members present were J. Douglas McCarthy,
Chairman, Charles S. DeHaven, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Blaine Dunn, John
Jewell, Citizen Member. Also, in attendance were Jay Tibbs, Deputy County Administrator,
Scott Varner, IT and MIS Director, Patrick Fly, Deputy IT Director, Michelle Nugent, Network
Operations Manager, and Jennifer Carver, Administrative Assistant.
INFORMATION ONLY
1. The Director of Information Technology and MIS reviewed the proposed FY2023 budget
with the Committee and reviewed several projects of note.
a. The Director of Information Technology highlighted a later addition to the
requested budget concerning NRADC and critical failures in their virtual
environment. The committee concurred that due to the emergent nature of the
issues, the request should move forward now. The IT Director will be submitting
a request to the Finance Committee on this item.
b. Other budget items were discussed
i. Learning Management System
ii. Replacement IPads for Fire and Rescue
iii. Cybersecu@ Managed Threat Response
iv. Spare switches
v. Training environment for Public Safety Software
2. The Director of Information Technology and MIS discussed an upcoming engagement with
the Cybersecu@ & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
