DRRC Meeting – 06/26/2014
Members present: Greg Unger, Gary Oates, Jay Banks, June Wilmot
Absent: Kevin Kenney, Whit Wagner, Roger Thomas, Tim Stowe, Eric Lowman, Dwight Shenk,

Item 1: Landscaping Requirements. Continued discussion on potential revisions to the
landscaping requirements contained in the Zoning Ordinance.
There were no additional comments received by the DRRC members, DRRC commented that
the landscaping changes as drafted are adequate. The committee did not wish to review this
item further.
Item 2: Zoning District Buffer Waiver. Discussion on potential revisions to the Zoning District
Buffer requirements contained in the Zoning Ordinance to allow for a buffer waiver when the
planned land use shown in the Comprehensive Plan is compatible.
DRRC members expressed concern regarding what would happen if a neighboring property that
had originally consented to the waiving of the buffer changed hands, that the new owner would
not be aware of the waiver. The committee understood that the current owner would be fully
aware of the buffer waiver because they would have to sign off, however new owners would
not be made aware of the waiver because it would have be authorized by the previous owner.
The DRRC had no further comment and sent the item forward to the Planning Commission.
Item 3: Screening for Outdoor Storage Areas. Discussion on potential revisions to the outdoor
storage screening requirements contained in the Zoning Ordinance.
The DRRC questioned whether screening within an industrial park is actually necessary since
parks can have covenants that require more than ordinance. It was discussed that the
ordinance would be outlining the minimums; parks can still require additional requirements.
The DRRC had no further comment and sent the item forward to the Planning Commission.
