MEETING MINUTES
OF THE
FREDERICK COUNTY CONSERVATION EASEMENT AUTHORITY
Held in the Executive Session Room of the Frederick County Administration Building at
107 North Kent Street in Winchester, Virginia on September 27, 2007 at 8:00 a.m.
PRESENT: Ritchie Wilkins, Chairman; Jim Lawrence, Treasurer; Barbara Van Osten;
and John Gavitt, Diane Kearns, Vice Chairman; Robert Solenberger; John Light; and,
Todd Lodge.
ABSENT: Phil Glaize.
STAFF PRESENT: Eric R. Lawrence, Director
PUBLIC MEETING:
Item I - Minutes
The minutes of the August 23, 2007 meeting were approved, with clarification that the
0 County Attorney would be directed to review the draft Conflict of Interest Statement
prior to its enactment.
Item 2 — Planning Arrangement for October 27, 2007 Fundraiser Event
The CEA continued discussion regarding the planned October 27, 2007 fundraising event
to be held at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (The Museum would be a sponsor of
the event). The event would be by invitation, and would showcase local products.
Desserts would be provided for the 7PM event by Marker - Miller Orchards; a winery was
being contacted to provide wines. The various committee assignments and
accomplishments were discussed. Committees include: program; invitations;
refreshments; and a silent auction. It was announced that National Fruit Product
Company would sponsor the event with a $2,000.00 donation.
It was agreed that an informational follow -up meeting for the fundraising event would be
held November 13, 2007; site to be determined. Those parties with interest in land
preservation will be encouraged to attend. Potential guest speakers include experts in
such topics as: land appraisal, tax benefits associated with conservation easements, and
land trusts.

• There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:15 a.m.
