At the Regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County yirginia,
held in the Supervisors Room over the Clerk's Office on Monday January 13, 1941.
P R E S E N T

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved:

The report of T. W. Russell, Supt of the County Home, I.,Fred Stine, County

Agent, Harry R. McCann, County Treasurer, Miss Spouse, Home Demonstration Agent and
Mrs. Nally, Supt., of the Board of Public Welfare, were respectively presented by them,
and each report was approved.
OLD ROUTE C NO. 3 NEW ROUTE 261 (RIDGE ROAD)
A petition signed by a representative number of tax payers and users of the
above road was presented to the Board with request that this Board urge'the State Highway
Department to improve said.Road between White Hall and the West Virginia line, whereupon,-
upon motion it was the unanimous opinion of the Board that the aforesaid Road urgently
needed improvement and the Highway Department is hereby respectfully requested to improve
same at an early date, and that copies of this resolution b6 sent to the Highway Depart-
ment.
NO PARKING AT SOUTH END OF COUNTY OFFICE.BUILDING.
Upon motion of Mr. Light seconded by Dtr. Lemley it was unanimously decided that
that part of the parking lot lying immediately south of the County Office Building be
marked off for no parking to the end that free ingress and egress through the lot to the
Alley which extends from the "Plaza" to Main Street be maintained at all times in the
interest of fire protection.
TRANSFER DOG FUND.
On motion, it is unanimously ordered that the Trea surer transfer the balance
in the Dog fund at the end of the year 1940, amounting to $881.26 to the credit of the
Z
General County Fund.
DOG FUND WARRANT # 242 VOIDED«
The Treasurer appeared before the Board reporting that Warrant No. 242 drawn on
the Dog Fund in 1938 in the amount of $3.50 payable to Howard White has not been cashed
and the Treasurer having been unable to contact the payee after repeated efforts, upon
motion of Mr. Fout seconded by Mr. Carpenter and carried it is hereby ordered that the '
said warrant be voided.

OFFICE IN COURT HOUSE.
After some discussion of the matter it was x=zizixx# decided to add a
room in the upstairs of the Gourt House to be occupied by the Home Demonstration Agent
as outlined in the minutes of the last meeting , the Clerk is hereby directed to notify
Mr. R. L. Barney to proceed with the improvement as soon as possible. Mr. Light voting
against the improvement'.
HITCHING YARD. GAS STATION.
Representatives.of the Standard Oil.Company appeared before the Board r
their proposal to erect a Service Station on the Hitching Yard lot where the property
occupied by BaileyBrothers is located, their proposal being to grade and surface the
entire lot and the space not used by them to be used for parking with reservation of
four horse stalls and space for the convenience of those people who sell wood, etc.,
and said Company further agrees to provide and maintain at their expense a Rest Room
for County People.
After considerable discussion of the several proposals of the Oil 'ompan y
the Board decided to hold the matter open for further consideration until the next
meeting.
SALARY AND EXPENSE ACCOUNTS APPROM.
TREASURER, 'COMAISSIONER OF REVENq COMIRONWEALTH ATTORNEY. F. W. PINGLEY SALARY.
On motion, the salary and expense account of the Treasurer, Commissioner of
are unanimously approved. Upon motion it was unanimously decided to raise the salary of
F. 1'1. Pingley five Dollars per month begimiing July 1, 1941.
Revenue and Commonwealth's Attorney of this County, as fixed by the Compensation Board
Bills totaling $ 3,207.33 were approved and ordered to be paid from the
General County Fund by checks 5276 to 5340 inclusive.
Sheep claims totaling $ 92.30 were approved and ordered to be paid from the
Dog Fund by warrants Nos.460 to 462 inclusive.
It is ordered that the Board do.now adjourn until Next Tuesday January 21, 1941
to work on the Budget.
