At a Regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County,Virginia,
held in the Supervisors room over the Clerk's Office on Nov. 6,1939.
PRESENT

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
The minutes of the previous (regular) meeting of Oct. 2,1939, were read and
unanimously approved.
REPORT OF T.W.RUSSELL
T.W.Russell, Supt, of the County Home presented his report and the same was
unanimously approved.
REPORT OF MISS BLAIR.
Miss Madeline Blair, County Home Demonstration Agent presented her report and the
Same was unanimously approved.
REPORT OF I.FRED STINE.
I.Fred Stine, County Agent, presented his report and the same was unanimously
approved.
COMMITTEE BEFORE CITY COUNCIL.
The Committee appointed to go before the City Council at the last meeting reported
contact with Mr. McVicar, Commr. of Revenue, for City, ant. adjustment on the taxes on
Iiitching Yard property is in the course of settlement.
SOUTHERAN STATES CO- OPERATIVE
Upon motion of Mr. Gold,second, by Mr. Branner, the matter of permit for building
of bulk oil plant by the above captioned concern §3.was referred to Commonwealth's attorney
and Chairman of this Board.
SHEEP CLAIM MRS. JAMES GARRETT.
The Board after consideration of the report of the investigation on the above claim
declined to pay same.
MRS. RAN DALLNUTTER',,•VtIF�DF RANDALL NUTTER.
It is ordered that Mrs. Randall Nutter, be committed to Winchester Memorial
Hospital for a period not to exceed three weeks, and that the Board will pay for such
Hospitalization. This action is taken upon satisfactory evidence of the necessity of the
case.
CLERK'S OFFICE AND CLERK.
Mr. Baker, Clerk of Circuit Court, appeared, requesting permission of this Board
to have a portion of the hearth in the office covered with linoleum, in order to move a
part of the desks of the office to a more advantageuous position to facilitate the
business of the office. Also to cause the table in the office of wood to be covered with
a linoleum cover or other satisfactory cover. Also to purchase;: another typewriter for
his use and for the use of the office; Also to purchase a typewriter stand for sAid
typewriter from Pifer Printing Co. at a price not to exceed $$15.00; Also to purchase two

steel legal size filing cabinets.
Whereupon}, the Board after consideration of said requests, does hereby authorize
said Clerk to proceed with the covering on a portion of the hearth, and the table
covering, and the purchase of the stand for the typewriter. A bid of the Royal Type-
writer Co. for the typewriter of $102.60 was accepted and the Clerk was directed to
order the same; As to the two legal size filing cabinets, Mr. Pifer of Pifer Printing
Co., appeared before the Board and his proposal to furnish two cabinets at a cost of
$49.00 r etail price, was accepted upon his agreement to furnish said cabinets at
wholesale price plus 10% commission, the Board paying the carrying charges or freight
on same, which figured $35.60 each, plus freight, and the Clerk is hereby authorized
to contract for same.
REPORT OF MISS NALLY
Miss Eulalia S.Nalley,Supt. of the Board of Public Welfare, presented her report.
and the same was unanimously approved.
ELECTION EXPENSES.
The Board feeling that it would be a great help to the election officials of the
County to provide that the warrants for Election expenses for the Election to be held Nc
1939, be paid at this meeting instead of waiting until the next r egular meeting, the
Clerk is directed to issue the warrants for same at this time, as these fees are set
by law,
Bills totaling $2765.18 were approved and ordered to be paid from the General
County Fund by checks Nos. 4206 to 4396 inclusive.
Sheep claims totaling $185.50 were approved and ordered to be paid from the Dog
Fund by checks Nos. 361 to 369 inclusive.
It is ordered that the Board do now adjourn.
