McCann, Treasurer, F. M. Yellott, Resident Road Engineer and II. Fred Stine County Agent, were read and approved. J AP,P,LE BLOSSOM FESTIVAL J. Pinckney Arthur of the Apple Blossom Committee, appeared before the Board and requested that they be given permission to use the Plaza for Amusements from Wesnesday afternoon through Thursday and Firday. All to be removed Friday Night. The following restrictions are required, that no bricks be damaged, no (stakes to be driven, no exposed wires used, not to be used for living quarters and also to post if deemed necessary by said Board. Upon motion it was unanimously decided to grant the permission, subject however to the above restrictions. SECDONARY ROAD MATTERS - I1fPROVE gNTS. A number of Delegations some with petions appeared before the Board with requests for improvements of the following Secondary Roads. No. I. Route 672 from Route 26I Apple Pie Ridge Road to Cedar Grove. Also Route 654 from Green Spring to Cedar Grove. No. 2. Route 600 from route 6I3 to Mtn. Falls and Star Tannery. No. 3. The widening of Paper Mill Road, route 644 from S.C.L. Winchester to I mile South also Route 622 from Valley pike to Paper Mill Road. No. 4. Route 600 from Shenandoah County line North toward Star Tannery. No. 5. Route 695 from West Virginia Line South Bridge Fords. No. 6. Route 699 bridge txo fords over Crockets Run. No. 7 Route 600 from Gainesboro to Hayfield be hard surfaced. No. 8. Route 70I from 522 to 702 Hard Surface. No. 9. Bufflick Road Route 645 from 646 Near Airport South East toward route 50. Upon motion by H. M. Fout seconded by H. C. Light The Highway Department is requested to carry out the improvements to the above list of routes, inso far as it mi�ht be possible so to do. ADDITIONS TO SECONDARY ROAD SYSTEM Requests for the following additions to the Secondary Road system were made and upon motion by G. W. Lemel y and Seconded by William Carpenter this Board re- commends to the Virginia State Highway Commission that these requests be added in order of their improtance provided that the property owners will donate and Deed an unobstructec right of way not less than 30 feet in width. No. I. Leaving Route II a short distance South of Stephens City thence '302 the lands of Stickley, Carbaugh, Guard and- others to the Duncard Chruch Road a distance of .9 Miles. No. 2. Beginning at route 64I at Town Bridge and thence in a Westerly ection over present road through the lands of William Cline, W. R. Ridenour and Scott . Cline. No. 3. Beginning East of Stephens City near the Willows filling Station c e South to I. W. Scothern's Farm a distance of .8 miles. No. 4. Beginning in Route 627 at B & 0 R. R. Station, Middletown, Va. to ute 634 at Middletown Mill a distance of .44 miles. No. 5. Beginning in Route II Martinsburg Pike .45 North of the .Corporate imits of the City of 7 dead.end at Millers Chemical Co a distance of .20 mile No. 6. Beginning in Route 50 at Renner Town thence in a North Eastern direction a distance of O.I7 miles. No. 7. Beginning on Route 50 a short distance East of Pingley's Service Station then continuing in a N ,,rth East direction to a dead end a distance of about 0.I7 miles. FENCE REMOVED- ACORN HEIGHTS Upon motion of William Carpenter and Seconded by H. C. Light.and duly passed, R. G. Vance is ordered to move his fence which he has built in the road at Acron Heights, to his line as recorded on Plat in Deed Book I57 at page 200 in the County Clerk's Office. The Clerk is ordered to mail a copy of this order to R. G. Vance. BILLS APPROVED Accounts totaling $2,I97.9I were approved and ordered to be paid from the General County Fund by Warrants numbers 9327 to 9365 inclusive and Livestock Claims and F. W. Pingley's Salary totaling $I00.00 were approved and ordered to be paid from the Dog Fund by warrants numbers 796 to 800 inclusive. L. McCann The reports of F. W. Pingley, Game Warden, F. M. Yellott, Resident Road Engineer, Madoline Myers, Home Demonstration Agent, H.L. McCann, Treasurer, were read and approved. CAT Upon motion it is that Warren Pugh be paid by the Treasurer the sum of Five Dollars for killing one Bob Cat. xmwx 303 ' ROAD MATTERS A deltQation appeared before the Board and presented a petition, signed „ o by a number of citizens from the Mt. Williams section, requesting that route 608 beginning one mile south of route 50 and continuing toward Mt; Falls, be oiled and hard surfaced. After the apperance of a number of delegations before the Board requesting road improvements, it is the opinion of this Board that the sentiment of the - public is strongly in favor of oiled roads. We therefore respectively request that the Highway Department hard surface as many miles of secondary roads as funds will permit and to acquire right of ways of sufficent width. FIRE CONTROL EQUIPMENT AND MAINTENANCE Upon motion of H. C. Light and seconded by G. W. Lemley and duly passed it was decided to place in the I946 and I947 budget One Thousand Dollars, to be divided equally between the five districts, for the purchase of fire control equipment and the maintenance of the same. FIRE PREVENTION Upon motion it was decided to set up in the budget $400.00 instead of $I00.00 for Fire Control for Frederick County. SCHOOL BOARD APPROPRIATION Upon motion, which was duly seconded it was decided that this Board appropriate $29,000.00 for the fiscal year of I946 and•I947 to the School Board and to rescind the appropriation of $25,000.00 which was appropriated at the meeting held on the IIth day of March I946, C. Fout voting SCHOOL BOARD BUDGET The Frederick County School Board appeared before the Board and presented their amended budget for the fiscal year of I946 -I947. On motion of G. V +. Lamely and seconded by H. C. Light it was unanimously adopted as presented. TENTATIVE BUDGET Upon motion of G. W. Lemley and seconded by H. C. Light the tentative Budget as prepared was unanimously adopted and the Clerk of this Board is authorized and ordered to have the same published in the Winchester Evening Star as required by law and the Public hearing thereof shall be on the 2 S day of June I946. BILLS APPROVED Accounts totaling $2,095.32 were approved and ordered to be paid from the General County Fund by warrants numbers 9366 to 9463 inclusive and Livestock claims and F. ti's. Pingley Salary totaling $IO2.60 were approved and ordered to be paid from the Dog by Warrants numbers 801 to 807 inclusive. Upoh_motionJt.twat, unaminously„agreed'tha.t;i�t. D.
