The report of T. W. Russell, Supt, of the County H I.. Fred Stine, Uounty Agent, Harry L. McCann, County Treasurer and Miss Sprouse, Home Demonstrator Agent, were respectively presented by them, and each report was approved. MINUTES APPROVED. Minutes of Regular Meeting of April 13, 1942 and Special Meeting of April 17th, 1942, were read and approved. TENTATIVE BUDGET FOR SECONDARY ROADS. Mr. F. M. Yellott, Resident Engineer, presented a budget for the construction and maintenance of the secondary roads of Frederick County for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1942 to July 1, 1943 and on motion of fir. Fout seconded by Mr. Carpenter, the same was unanimously approved. ROAD PATTERS. ROUTE 638 DUNKARD CHURCH ROAD. Request that said Route from the Intersection of Route 11 one mile south of Stephens City, betaken into the Secondary System for maintenance and repair eastwardly ROUTE 628 MIDDLE ROAD. A delegation with Mr. C. C. Bauserman acting as chairman appeared requesting the completion of the above Route from the Oak Tree"to Marlboro, or as much of that distance as possible, be surfaced and completed as the other part of said Route. ROUTE 627 MIDDLETUNN -- MARLBORO ROAD. Request .tha. t this road be surfaced and conditioned. ROUTE 640 CAUNALLADER ROAD. OR REFUGE ROAD. G Request that this road from Highview School House toward.-Warren County line be conditioned and stone surfaced. ROUTE 622 CEDAR CREEK GRADE. Request that this Route from Mount Zion Church to Marlboro be surfaced and conditioned. ADDITIONS TO SECONDARY ROAD SYSTEM. SHADE ROAD. Upon motion of Mr. Fout seconded by Mr. Carpenter and unanimously passed the Highway Department is requested to take into the Secondary Road System the above Road 238 between its intersection with 695 and 696 being about one mile in length. Upon motion of Mr. Light seconded by Mr. Lemley, the Highway Department is requested to carry out the improvements to the above list of Routes, in so far as it might be possible so to do during the coming Fiscal Year. Accounts totaling $2,224.73 were approved and ordered paid from the General County Fund by warrants Nos.6383 to 6429 inclusive. Sheep claims totaling $80.27 were approved and ordered to be paid from the Dog Fund by warrants Nos. 524 to 530 inclusive. It is ordered that the Board do now adjourn until Manday May 25th at 10 :00 A.M. for Special Meeting for Public Hearing on their Budget. CHAIRMAN CLERK. At a Special Meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County, Virginia held in the Supervisors Room over the Clerk's Office on Monday May 25th, 1942. PRESENT C. H. Rosenberger, Chairman, H. According to an advertisement for Public Hearing as to the Levy as set for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1942 to June 30, 1943 there being no tax payers appearing before the Board relative to the Lery as set by the Board, the Board hereby* confirms the Levy as set, which is as follows: 40,x- on $100.00 -- General County Levy. $1.00 on $100.00 -- County School Levy.. And it is ordered that a copy of same be mailed to Rowland Egger, Director of the Budgets, Richmond, Virginia.. FIRERAN'S FESTIVAL. CHANGE IN THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY ROAD SYSTEMS: Due to relocation and construction of Route 55 Project S- 1219- A2 -B2. On motion it is unanimously approved that Sections 1,2,3,5 and 11 of old location of Route 55 be abandoned. Total length to be abandoned 3.768 miles. Shown in blue on attached sketch. Section 6, a part of Secondary Route #608, length 0.045 be abandoned. Shown in green on attached sketch. section 12, a part of Secondary Route #609, length 0.09 be abandoned. Shown in green on attached sketch. Section 4 revert to theSecondary System, length 0.08 miles. Shorn in red on the attached sketch. FARMERS CURB MARKET AT HITCHING YARD. Mr. Grover Schlack, Chairman of Farmers Curb Market appeared before the Board requesting the use of that portion of the Hitching Yard Property abutting East Boscawan Street between Cameron and Kent Streets, for the use of said Market beginning Wednesday J 24, next, and each Wednesday there after in season, for the use of said Market in c the sale of their products, which privilege was granted upon motion of Mr. Light second by Mr. Lemley and unanimously carried. 241 PEWISSION FOR SCHOOL BOARD TO BORROW MONEY. The School Board of Frederick County presented to this Board a resolution requesting that they be permitted to borrow $5,000.00 from Banks or as much thereof as might be necessary for them to meet their current bills for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1942, the amount so borrowed to be paid within the calendar year, or as soon as funds become available. Upon motion of Mr. Lemley;rseconded by Mr. Carpenter, the School Board is hereby authorized to borrow the required amount up to $5,000.00 which motion was unanimously passed. Accounts totaling $1,872.24 were approved and ordered paid from the General County Fund by warrants Nos6430 to 6482 inclusive. Sheep claims totaling $130.87 were approved and ordered to'be paid from the Dog Fund by warrants Nos. 531 to 538 inclusive. It is ordered that the Board do no tu adjourn.. Nally, Public ��elfare, were respectively presented by them, and each report was approved. PURCHASE OF LAKE ATLAS. OF FREDERICK COUNTY VA. The Clerk having requested this Board to purchase a Lake Atlas of Frederick County, for $10.00, upon motion of Mr. Light seconded by 1 Lemley and carried, he is hereby authorized to purchase said Atlas to be placed in the County Clerk's Office for its use. PERIISSION TO DESTROY OLD PAID BOARD OF SUPERVISOR�BILLS.. The Clerk of this Board having directed the attention of the Board to an Act passed by the last Legislature Chapter 192 Acts 1942 which authorizes the Board of 242 Supervisors to enpower the Clerk to destroy all paid bills and accounts, which have been paid by the Board after Five years from the date of Payment thereof. It appearing that by so doing considerable filing space would be released in the Clerk's Uffice for other purposes, upon motion of I1r. Fout seconded by I.4r. C it is hereby ordered and the Clerk hereby is authorized to destroy all accounts that have been paid by the Supervisors prior to 1935, and further to hereafter destroy said accounts each year and beginning next year with 193 5, and each succeeding year thereafter. APPROPRIATION TO CANCER FOUNDATION.. Upon consideration of the appeal from the Virginia Cancer Foundation for Aid in combatting, this disease, upon motion of Mr. Fout seconded by Mr. C and unanimously carried this Board does hereby appropriate the sum of Fifty ($50.00) Dolh rs for that purpose. TRANSFER OF APPROPRIATION OF SCHOOL BOARD. On motion of Mr. Light seconded by I.4r. Lemley, which carried the Treasurer of this County is hereby authorized to transfer from the General County Fund to the School Board of Frederick County the sum Ten Thousand ($10,000.00) which was appropriated and provided for in the 1942 -3 Budget. SERVICE CONTRACT T'IPEIJRITER- TABULATOR CM11ISSIONER OF REVIIQUE O FFICE. Upon consideration the Chairman of this Board is hereby authorized to sign a contract with the Remington -Rand Company to service the Typewriter and tubulating machine used in the Commissioner of R Office. SALE OF DELINQUENT TRACTS OF LAND. It appearing that there is a tract of Five Hundred (500) acres of land situated upon in Back Creek District and assessed in the name of C. B. Hancock E /which the taxes have been delinquent for.many years ; also a tract of ninety -eight (98) acres, in Back Creek District and assessed in the name of Jerry Dunlap, upon w1i3eh which the taxes have been delinquent for more than five years; also a tract of twenty -five acres (25) in Back Creek District and assessed in the name of Floyd Adams, upon which the taxes have been delinquent for more than five years, therefore, upon motion of Mr. Fout second by Mr. Carpenter it is unanimously ordered that J. Sloan Kuykendall be and he hereby is directed and authorized to proceed as provided by statute to institute proceedings to sell said several parcels of ground. Accounts totaling $3,210.82 were approved and ordered paid from the General County Fund by warrants Nos. 6483 to 6547 inclusive. Sheep claims totaling $76.87 were approved and ordered to be paid from the Dog Fund by warrants Nos 539 to 546 inclusive. It is order.e t the Board do now adjourn until its next regular meeting..
