APRIL AS 1=AIR HOUSING MONTH
WHEREAS, April 11, 2010 marks the 42 "d anniversary of the passage of the U.S. Fair
Housing Law, Title V[ll of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, which enunciates a
national policy of Fair Housing without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, sex,
familial status, and handicap, and encourages fair housing opportunities for all citizens;
and
WHEREAS, The Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Commission and the County of
Frederick, Virginia, are committed to highlight the Fair Housing Law, Title Vlll of the Civil
Rights Act of 1968, by continuing fio address discrimination in our community, to support
programs that will educate the public about the right to equal housing opportunities, and
to plan partnership efforts with other organizations to help assure every American of
their right to fair housing.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Frederick, Virginia, do
hereby resolve that April 2010, being Fair Housing Month, begins ayear -long
commemoration of the U.S. Fair Housing Law in Frederick County and urge all citizens
to wholeheartedly recognize this celebration throughout the year.

Central to our activities this year are various events which will brixig attention to the successes of
people with disabilities in our community, as well as r�zcognition to businesses and individuals who
have gone the e�ttra ztzile in breaking down barriers which. limit the access to many people, such as
architectural structures, prejudices, and ignorance. Soxxxe of those who are or have been involved in
disAhility Awareness Week activities include: Shenandoah University; Lord Fairfax Community
College; Handley Regional, library; the public schools of the Lord £'airfax Planning District VII; the
