RESOLUTION BY THE FREDERICK COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Comment for Six Year Improvement Program The Board of Supervisors of Frederick County, in regular meeting on the 10th day of October 2007, adopted the following: WHEREAS, The Board is greatly appreciative of the fact that the Draft 2008 -2013 Six Yeaz Improvement Program includes preliminary funding for Route 37 and enhanced funding for Route 277; and WHEREAS, The Route 37 project continues to be the number one priority identified for primary transportation funding in the WinFred MPO Long Range Transportation Plan and most needed major road improvement in Frederick County; and WHEREAS, Route 37 will relieve traffic throughout the regional transportation network, including I -81, Route 50, and Route 7; and WHEREAS, Other significant needs are not being addressed in the draft plan such as the relocation of Exit 307, widening of Route 7, and improvements to Route 11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Frederick County Board of Supervisors respectfully requests additional funding for this area, particular]y Route 37 and continued recognition of Route 37 and Route 277 as the most pressing transportation needs in this region. Bishop AICP, Deputy Director - Transportatior��,,�\ RE: Fall Commonwealth Transportation Board Public Meeting DATE: October 4, 2007 This is a public meeting item to consider comments to the Commonwealth Transportation Board Fall public meeting. The meeting will be held the evening of October 15, 2007 at the Augusta County Government Center in Verona, VA. Attached please find the VDOi invitation to the Fall CTB Public Meeting. Staff has also prepared a sample resolution (attached) that continues to highlight County priorities to the CTB. In addition, staff would like to offer an open invitation to any Board members who may wish to attend. Staff would be happy to provide transportation and any assistance that may be desired in preparing comments. Kent Street Winchester, Virginia 22601 Dear Mr. Riley: I am writing, on behalf of Staunton Commonwealth Transportation Board member Dr. James Davis and myself, to invite you to the Fall Commonwealth Transportation Baazd public meeting. This meeting is being held in your azea for citizens to comment on projects that are candidates for inclusion in the Fiscal Year 20082013 Six -Year Improvement Program (SYTP }. It will include highv��ay, rail and public transportation initiatives. These candidate projects and programs represent important improvements to address safety, congestion and preservation of Virginia's transportation network. It is important that we hear from you and your constituents about the highest priorities for the state's limited transportation funds. The mee ±ing ter citizens in•our dis+sict .,�,� start at 5:00 p.m. oa Menday, October 15, 2007 at the Augusta County Government Center. From 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the meeting will follow an "open house" format. Written comments may be submitted during this informal session, or they maybe mailed or e- mailed afterwazds. Starting at 6:30 p.m., there will be a public discussion session where prepazed verbal comments can be shazed. We invite you to attend a special public officials' briefing from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. before the public meeting. This will be an opportunity for you to learn more about the initiatives that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) are proposing, as well as the FY09 -14 SY1P. VDOT and DRPT representatives will be on hand to provide information on the proposals. Also, we encourage Metropolitan Planning Organizations to participate with displays highlighting their regional long -range transportation planning efforts as well as their regional transportation improvement programs.
