028-05BOARD OF SUPERVISORS RESOLUTION FISCAL YEAR 2005-2006 BUDGET AMENDMENT WHEREAS, the Frederick County Board of Supervisors, meeting in regular session and public hearing held on November 9, 2005, took the following action: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors that the FY 2005- 2006 Budget be Amended to Reflect: School Construction Fund Supplemental Appropriation in the Amount of $1 000 000 00. Th1s Amount Represents Costs Associated with the Commencement of the Architectural Design, Engineering, and Site Testing for the Replacement of Gainesboro Elementary School. Administrat~ce By SUBJECT: Request to Proceed with the Replacement Gainesboro Elementary School 1) Construction Project Appropriation 2) Reimbursement Resolution DATE: October 19, 2005 At their meeting on October 18, 2005, the school board approved the forwarding of a request for board of supervisor appropriation in the amount of $1,000,000 in the school construction fund and for the commencement of the architectural design, engineering and site testing of a replacement school for the current Gainesboro Elementary School. Included in the school board's action was a request to consider a county reimbursement resolution which would allow the county to fund the expenses associated with the aforementioned items and be reimbursed with the spring 2006 VPSA bond issue. The opening date for the new school is anticipated for the fall of 2007. The anticipated timeline for the project is as follows: building design and site testing -completed by January; bid solicitatipn -February; evaluation and award of the bid -March; and, mobilization for project construction -April 2006. This schedule allows for a fifteen month construction phase with one month to spare for move-in activities. This project has been on the capital improvement plan for several years. The need far a replacement of this 1932 building has been discussed at great length. The replacement school will be larger in capacity than the existing Gainesboro Elementary School and it is planned to be located on property currently owned by the school division. This request accompanies a reimbursement resolution to be considered.
