HomeMy WebLinkAbout031-054~G~ CpG~ W ~ BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ,~Iw 1~3 Resolution of Support for Forming a HOME Consortium Through The U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development WHEREAS, the localities within Northern Shenandoah Valley Region have experienced tremendous growth and an increased pressure on the affordable housing market; and WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides funds to localities for the purpose of promoting affordable housing; and WHEREAS, Blue Ridge Housing Network administers HOME funds to low and moderate income first time home buyers; and WHEREAS, the five counties and the City of Winchester within the Northern Shenandoah Valley Region have expressed interest in exploring additional ways to promote affordable housing; and WHEREAS, the five counties and the City of Winchester within the Northern Shenandoah Valley Region are eligible to apply as a consortium to HUD to increase the allocation of the HOME funds distributed to the Northern Shenandoah Valley; and WHEREAS, the Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Commission agrees to facilitate the creation of a HOME Consortium for the purpose of applying for HOME funds fi-om HUD; and WHEREAS, Blue Ridge Housing Network agrees to continue to be the adnunistering agent for HOME funds; and WHEREAS, the City of Winchester agrees to be the responsible entity for application and monitoring; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the County of Frederick, Virginia agrees to participate in the creation of a HOME Consortium for the purposes of applying for funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Hnnver Counties, as well as the City of Winchester to adopt a resolution agreeing to participate In the 'John E. Vance HOME Consortium. Participation does not obligate the local governments to providing any FRONT ROYAL Mayor James M. Eastham funding, it only indicates agreement to one joint application being submitted to HUD which J.
