The school board approved the award of the bid to Caldwell Santmyer - subject to board of supervisor approval of appropriation for the project total. The successful bid for the construction portion of the project is $15,490,000. The total project encompassing all design, construction, site work, furniture and equipment, is estimated to be $18,475,000. Since $1 million has already been appropriated for this project, the school board requests a supplemental appropriation of $17,475,000 in the fiscal year 2007. Please note this amount is less than the request on the board's agenda for tonight. I am providing this memo electronically to assist you in expediting the delivery of the information to all of the supervisors prior to their meeting. I appreciate your assistance in the coordination of the approval timeline for this project. Please contact me should you have any questions or concerns. The county CIF preparatipn process requires us to submit estimates based on current dollars for proposed projects through the ne~ct six years. A comparison to Evendale FJemantary maybe more appropriate. The Evendale project estimate, of a year ar more ago, is $15.9 million for a 64q-program capaaty school, Per Hunter Barnes of the VA pepartrr~nt of Edugtion, Facility Services Depattmenfi, the school consfiruction casts inr~ased 24°h in qne year Pram 2004 to 2005. Therefore, if 24% is added to the $16.8 million, it vvauld cost $19.8 miilian to build Evendale l;lemerrtary today, ff allowance is rrrade far the increased program capaaty (644T760), then the Gainesboro project estimate would be $22.B rrfiltipn ($19.8/644750 studenfis~ - within range of the estimate provided for you. Finally, recall when we inquired about the public heaiin8 date of June 2B at the joint buildings and grounds ahd public works meeting, we expressed the need to push the process to atkempt to make up for lost time.
