June 17, 1963372 At a Special Meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County, held on the 17th day of June, 1963. PRESENT: B. 0. Brumback, Chairman, Paul L. Luttrell, W. Hurl Himelright, C. E. Garber and Craver Teets. Upon motion of Grover Teets and seconded by W. Hurl Hlmelright the following resolution was unanimo passed: WHEREAS, Virginia Electric and Power Company has filed a petition before the State Corporation Commission for a certificate of convenience and necessity for the establish- ment of a 500 KV Electric transmission line through Opequon and Back Creek Districts, and WHEREAS, a group of landowners in some other Counties, in Virginia, have intervened in the said proceedings before the State Corporation Commission and have asked that the said 500 KV Electric transmission line be established along an existing transmission line of the Northern Virginia Power Company through Back Creek, Gainesboro and Stonewall Magisterial Districts, Frederick County, and WHEREAS, it is believed that the establishment of such a line along either of said routes or elsewhere in Frederick County would adversely affect the extensive tourist trade in the County, would mar the beauty of the Shenandoah. Valley without providing any service in the County which is already provided with adequate electric power, would adversely affect the development of suburban residential properties as well as farm properties in the County and would eventually result in a substantial loss of tax revenue to the County: NOW, WHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County objects to the establishment of a 500 KV electric transmission line on either of the said proposed routes or anywhere else in Frederick County by Virginia Electric and Power Company, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk is directed to certify an attested copy of this resolution to the State Corporation Commission and to Virginia Electric and Power Company.
