HENRY S. BURSEY - DOG WARDEN Upon motion duly made a nd seconded, the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County, V }rginia, requests the Judge of the Circuit Court to re- appoint Henry S. Bursey I dog warden for Frederick County for the term beginning July 1, 1961 and ending on the 30th day _ of June, 1962. DOG WARDEN SAIA RY Henry S. Bursey, having been re- appointed dog wardenfor the term beginning on the 1st day of July, 1961 and ending on the 30th day of June, 1962, it is ordered that his salary be, and hereby is, fixed at the sum of $150.00 per calendar month. WILKINS PLAT AND DEED OF DEDICATION Upon motion, duly made and seconded, the plat and deed of dedication of Green Acres wasa pproved as presented subject however, to sp proval of the Highway Department, City of 'Ninchester and Health Unit. TYPEWRITER- CLERK'S OFFICE Upon motion of Grover Teets and seconded by C. E. Garber, the Clerk is ordered to purch a new I.B.M. Standard Electric Typewriter, 17 inch carraige for the use of the Clerk's Office at the quoted price of $427.50 plus $10.80 for key changes.. Total $438.30. LEAGUE OF VIRGINIA COUNTIES The League of Virginia Counties having submitted a questionnaire to the Board concerning the position of Frederick County on a general retail sales tax; and upon motion duly madeand seconded, this Board unanimously disapproves of any retail sales tax for the State of Virginia. WHITACRE SUBDIVISION - SECTION A Upon motion of Paul Luttrell and seconded by W. Hurl Himelright the final approval of Whitacre Subdivision Section "A" located in Stonewall District a short distance west of Winchester, was approved as presented, subject ho»rever to the approval by the City Council of Winchester. WILSON FOUR LOTS - FAHNESTOCK LAND SUBDIVISION Upon motion, duly m the Wilson four lots subdivision was testatively approved. ABANDONMENT OF ROUTE 749 The following road of the Secondary System in Frederick County was abandoned: From intersection of Route 749 1.03 miles north a s reportedly the Department of Highways. ADDITION FRO? -` ROUTE 655 Upon motion duly made and seconded, the Board approves the addition to the Frederick County Secondary System the following road: east of Route 50 to 0.08 mile south. MEDICAL COLLEGE OF VIRGINIA CONTRACT From Route 655 to a point 0.55 mile. Upon motion duly made seconded, the Board approvedand entered into the contract for hospitalization of indigent persons with the Medical College of Richmond, Virginia for the term beginning- on the lst� day of July, 1961 and ending on the 30th day of June, 1962, at the following rates, to -wit: $24.65 per patient day. PLAZA - POLICING BY KNCHESTER POLICE Upon motion duly made and seconded, resolution which was passed at the Regular Meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County, Virginia, held in the Super- visors' Room on the 11th day of October, 1948, granting authority to the Police Department of I 1 ` O the City of Winchester, Virginia to regulate according to its traffic regulations promulgated for the City of Winchester the traffic conditions arising on the Frederick County owned portion of the County Court House Plaza. It was ordered that the same, be, and hereby is rescinded. Be it Resolved, that the Highway Department is hereby requested to add the following section of road to the Secondary Highway System of Frederick County - -- -from route 681 at a point 1.30 miles north of Route 522 - - -to 0.65 mile eastward length 0.63 mile. A 40 foot right of way was recorded in Deed Book No. 271, Page 272 on July 7, 1961, and said right of way being cleared of all obstructions. FREDERICK COUNTY BUDGET FOR THE YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1 1961 The Public hearing was had on the Frederick County Budget which was advertised 1 on the 28th day of July, 1961 for taxpayers who desire to appear before the Board to express their views on the approval or disapproval of the budget as proposed. Be it resolved that the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Virginia Museum shall have the right to use that section of the Plaza back of Penny's Store and the Clerk's Office on I Saturday, September 16, 1961 for their display of art and music. VIRGINIA CIVIL DEFENSE ASSOCIATION Koontz, principal of the Middletown School, Middletown, Virginia appeared before the Board and requested the Board to become a member of the Virginia Civil Defense Assoc. A general discussion was held, no action was taken. .304 'VIRGINIA STATE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Mr. J. Adair, Director of Member Relations appeared before the Board on behalf of the Virginia State Chamber of Commerce and requested the Board to become a member of said I organization. No action was taken. JANITOR'S SALARY Upon motion, It is ordered that the salary of Wilbur Anderson be, and hereby is fixed at $3,400.00 for the year beginning on the 1st day of July, 1961. FOXES - BOUNTY David Fahnestock having resigned as certifying agent for reporting to the Treas ly for Foxes killed and entitled to the bounty payments. Upon motion, it is ordered that Wilbur Anderson, be, and hereby is appointed in his place and stead. W. E. EDWARDS - ROOM RENT FOR OFFICE W. E. Edwards, Frederick County Judge, having requested permission to rent additional office space from Goode & Company at the sum of $27.50 per month. Upon motion it is ordered that the request be, and hereby is granted. CIVIL WAR CENTENNIAL Dabney W. Watts appeared before the Board and requested $500.00 donation for thel I Civil War Centennial. No action was taken. ADDITION - ROUTE 681 - APPROVED BY DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS The following addition to the Secondary System of Frederick County beginning at the intersection of Route 681 running eastward 0.63 mile to dead end on the Roberts Farm was approved by the Department of Highways, effective July 1, 1961. HAND RAILING - CLERK'S OFFICE - ENTRANCE Upon motion duly made and seconded, the Board accepted the offer of the Blue Ridge Ornamental Iron Works, Inc., Winchester, Virginia for installation of Hand Railing. GIBSON SCHOOL - REWARD Upon motion duly made and seconded the Frederick County School Board is hereby granted permission by the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County to offer a reward not to exceed $200.00 to any person or persons who furnish evidence that will convict the party or parties thati damaged the windows of the Gibson School. SHAWNEELAND-- SECTIONS V.- U. -B -DD AND SECTION CC Upon motion duly made and seconded the following resolution was tentatively approved.
