Massie, Jr., John Wolfe, Agnes Shirley and Claude Coffman. Reports of Earl Cather, Game Warden; Harry L. McCann, Treasurer; Earl S. Bailey, Commissioner of the Revenue; Robert L. DeHaven, Sheriff; Joseph A. Massie, Jr. Common- wealth's Attorney; John Wolfe, County Agent; Shirley, Home Demonstration Agent; and Claude i Coffman, Road engineer; were read and approved. A VARIANCE - PLANNING BOARD Upon motion, duly seconded, the Board of Supervisors resolved that the question of granting a variance to L. F. McDonald to build a service station and garage on the west of Route #50 in Zoned Area A ( the same being restricted) be referred to the Planning Com- mission of Frederick County, Virginia for its recommendation; and if approved, the specifications; as to type, style and manner of building to be erected, and the location thereof. MEDICAL COLLEGE OF VIRGINIA - CONTRACT Upon motion, duly.seconded,,the Board approved and entered into the contract for hospitalization of indigent persons with the Medical Gollepe of Richmond, Virginia, for the term July 1, 1958 to December 31, 1958, inclusivef at the following rates: First 14 days t7 day $18.50 per day Each additionala, for 28 days 17.50 per day Each additional day over 28 days 16.00 per day., DEED FROM L. ADOLPH RICHARDS TO THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Upon motion, made and duly seconded, the Board approved and accepted the deed from L. Adolph Richards to the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County, Virginia, which said deed is recorded in the Frederick County Clerk's Office in Deed Book 252 at page 283. MINERAL LAND ASSESSMENT Earl S. Bailey, Commissioner of the Revenue ®f Frederick County, Virginia, presented the mineral land assessment for the calendar year beginning on the first day of January 1958; and on motion, duly made and seconded, said assessment was approved as presented. SCHOOL BOARD - PERMISSION TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS v Upon motion of B. 0. Brumback and seconded by C. E. Garber, the following request w unanimously approved: Superintendent of Frederick County Schools Robert E. Aylor appeared before the Board of Supervisors, representing the School Board of Frederick County. Superintendent Aylor reported to the Board that the School Board need to make certain adjustment in the 1957- 58 school budget. He stated that unpredictaLle circumstances had necessitated the need for more -196 money for coordinate activities, auxiliary agencies, other auxiliary agencies, operation of r school plant, maintenance of school plants and fixed charges. He requested the Board to permit the School Board to increase the expenditures in these items with increased income from the general county levy and from State funds. The Board of Supervisors on motion of B. 0. Brumback and seconded by C. E. Garber granted the request on condition that the School Board operate without going in the red, and in.addition, leave a balance of at least $4,503.43, which balance was set i,up as an amount needed to balance the 1958 -59 school budget. ROADS - ROUTE 600 Upon motion, duly made and seconded, the following resolution was ladopted: i BE IT RESOLVED, that due to the construction of Rt 600 - Proj. 1334 -08, it is the sense of the Board that the section of old road extending from Ste. 126/125 to Sta. 135X60, and shown on sketch giving changes in Secondary System due to relocation and construction on Rt. 600 - Proj. 1334 -08 as Section #4, should be discontinued from the Highway ' S since this road no longer renders a genuine public service, but is still needed for access to private property. This Board hereby requests the Highway Commission to discontinue this section of road in accordance with Section 33 -76.7 of the 1950 Code, as amended. ROADS - FEDERAL AID - CEDAR REEK GRADE Upon motion, duly made and seconded,t he following resolution was ladopted: This day came before the Board P,Sr. C. H. Coffman, Resident Engi- . the .neer of the Department of Highways for this county, regarditgt / matter of selecting a highway project to be constructedfrom Federal Aid Secondary Fund accrued and /or accruing to this County; and 'JJHEREAS, after due consideration and upon the recommendations of 'the said Resident Engineer, it is the sense of this Board that Route 628 between Route 11 and 0.2 Mi. South of the intersection of Rt. 732, is inadequate for the present day traffic and is the ,most needed project on the Secondary System in this County after the construction of those projects previously selected. NJW, requests the Department of Highways above, constructed and /or reconstruc and /or accruing to Frederick County, those projects previously selected. BILLS PAYABLE THEREFJRE, be it resolved that this Board of Supervisors to take the necessary steps to have the project, as described ted as a Federal Aid Secondary Project from funds accrued as soon a s is financially feasible after the financing of Accounts totaling $3,795.30 were approved and ordered to be paid from the General County Fund by warrants numbers 18392 to 18423 inclusive; and livestock, fowl claims and Earl Gather's salary totaling $249.00 were approved and ordered to be paid from the Dog Fund by warrants numbers 1766 to 1770 inclusive.
