VETERANS - CARNIVAL on the 21st. day of January Upon motion, duly seconded, the Association of Disabled Veterans was given permission to hold a carnival on the Valley Pike during the early part of the summer, 1956. REPORTS Reports of Earl Cather, Dr. A. L. Lindell, Annie Sue St. Clair, Paul Coffman, John Wolfe, Harry L. McCann, Robert L. DeHaven, Earl S. Bailey, and Joseph A. Massie, Jr. Reports of Earl Cather, Game Warden; Dr. A. L. Lindall, Health Officer; Annie Sue St. Clair-, Welfare Superintendent; Paul Coffman, Road Engineer; John Wolfe, County Agent; Agnes Shirley, Home Demonstration Agent; harry L. McCann, Treasurer; Robert L. DeHaven, Sheriff; Earl S. Bailey, Commissioner of the Revenue; and Joseph A. Massie, Jr., Commonwealth's Attorney, were read and approved. i ROADS - 641 Upon motion, duly seconded, the following resolution was passed: WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Virginia, through the Department of Highways, has prepared and submitted plans to the Board for the Construction or improvement of a section of Route 641 of the State Secondary System rroject 1334 -09, in Frederick County, from Warren County line to S. Int. Rt. 636 (Canterburg), approved January 3, 1956; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Board that said road be improved in accordance with said plans. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That this Board hereby approves the plans and requests the Department of Highways to proceed with construction in accordance a therewith, and this Board hereby agrees to assist and cooperate in the acquisition of the right of way shown on plans as being required, it being understood that costs for such right of way are to be paid from Secondary funds allocated or to be allocated to Frederick County. It is further understood and agreed that in the event one or more property owners refuse to execute a deed covering land required from their properties for right of way purposes that the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Highways, will institute and conclude condemnation proceedings and that all costs are to be paid from Secondary funds allocated or to be allocated to Frederick County. HEALTH UNI The following request was presented by Dr. A. L. Lindell, Super- intendent of Health Unit: Dear Sir: It is requested that the county Board of Super- visors appropriate $4684.00 toward the maintenance of the local Health Unit. This is 26.433% of the cost of the services of the personnel assigned to Frederick County, 0 includes a Health Director, one Public Health Nurse, one Record Clerk, and two Sanitarians. This includes the addition of one Sanitarian assigned to the county for one -half time from July 1, 1956. This includes an addition of $350.00 for the additional Sanitarian for half tire. The old schedule called for $4334.00 for Frederick County. B IRTH CERTIFICATE - RECOPYING 129 Upon motion, duly seconded, the Board accepted the offer of Mrs. D. W. P.itenour of six cents per name for copying the Frederick County birth. records in a neiv record book. SPECIAL MEETING It is ordered that a Special meeting be held on the 2nd. day of March, 1956 for the purpose of meeting the School Board and to discuss the 1956 -1957 School Budget. PLAT J. R. MWITS The Subdivision Plat of J. R. Wilkins was presented and approved. BILLS PAYABLE Accounts totaling $8555.33 were approved and ordered to be paid from the General County Levy by warrants numbers 16529 to 16721 inclusive; and livestock, fowl claims and Earl Cather's salary amounting to 390.70 were ordered to be paid from the Dog Fund by warrants numbers 1572 to 1582 inclusive. CQ� CLERK R CHAIRMAN At a Special Meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Frederick County, Virginia, held in the Supervisors' Room over the Clerk's Office on the 2nd. day of March, 1956. P- R- E- S -E -N -T C. M. Rosenberger, Chairman; B. 0. Brumback, L. R. Omps, C. E. Garber, and Grover Teets. The purpose of the meeting was to meet the school board and discuss the different items: v2 S «r The School Board, by C. E. Pingley, Charles E. Bass, Elizabeth Sheets, and R. E. Aylor, appeared before the Board and presented the tentative school budget for the year beginning July 1, 1956, and ending on the 30th. day of June, 1957. A general discussion was had. Upon motion, duly seconded, it is ordered that a special meeting be held on Monday, March 5, 1956, for the purpose of the preparation of the County Budget.
